Hajra Shah's 10th birthday party.

Hajra with her personally designed invitation cards.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hajra Shah is one little enthusiastic soul, who is passionate about creativity. A swimmer par excellence, a story writer who has her own blog, at blogspot, called 'Story time' , where she posts her own created stories.
 Paper mache', origami and painting are her favourite activities. Hajra is such an expert in all these things that she decided to design and create her own birthday invitation cards and Pinata for her 10th birthday party.
Encouraged by her loving father Dr. Munir Hussain Shah, this little lady went ahead with designing her entire party. Selecting a unique theme, inspired by the movie, 'the little mermaid's song, 'UNDER THE SEA'.
So, Hajra decided and planned everything at her own. She designed a mermaid style dress for herself, with a Blue blouse and ( not just demanded ) but actually went out & bought everything matching with that colour, table cloths, balloons, goodie bags, etc.
She personally instructed the electricians to stretch lights over the lawn of her house, in form of a net and had big painted fish hung downwards, to depict the fish under the sea.
All the tables were laid with glass vases, filled with sea shells and tube roses, to add the effect of sea weeds. And dried star fish & sea shells were spread over the tables.
The dance floor was set in the middle of the lawn, with disco lights, smoke machine, excellent stereo system, complete with a DJ. And along with regular English songs, the songs from Hajra's favourite movie, 'the little mermaid' were played that kids loved to dance on.
Hajra entertained her friends with games like limbo, passing the parcel, treasure hunt and dancing statues. And showered lots of snow sprays and party poppers on them.
All the kids joined her, in breaking the pinata and after it was broken, all of them went wild covered with glitter inside it, looking around and collecting more bounties spread everywhere.
Hajra had also personally selected, design of the cake, matching the theme of her party. Her father helped her light the candles on the cake and her two elder sister Fatima Shah and Zahra Shah helped  blow off the candles and cut the cake.
Later, soon after aftaar, all the kis (almost 30 in number) and entire family, were served a scrumptious dinner. Hajra was careful in arranging for aftari also, because few kids were fasting due to Ramazan and her party timings were from 6pm to 9pm.
The most surprising element at the occasion, was a brilliant LASER LIGHT show. All the lights were turned down, while kids were dancing on the floor. Suddenly, they were all covered in interesting light patterns, some of the kids started running after those, as if trying to catch fireflies.
So, hats off to this 10 years old, who put so much effort to make her 10th birthday, on 25th July 2012 a memorable event, not for herself but for all her friends and family also. Congratulations Hajra!!
And few words for Hajra's generous father. Sir jee!! May Allah always keep you thriving in prosperity with excellent health and provide you, unlimited opportunities to celebrate happy occasions with your children. God bless you always.
M.G.M. Swimming pool.
View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...
Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school
Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...
