Qurratul-ain Gillani hosts her 1st party in FMS' committee.

Quraul-ain (Annie) Gillani.

October remained a busy month for Multani-ites. The holy month of  zil-Hajj, took many of the natives to Makkah, inorder to perform Hajj. Also, week long holidays for Eid-ul-Adha, followed by train of eid-milan parties.

And then the rush for weddings, as there are hardly nineteen days or less
, after Eid-ul-Adha to Moharram, an extremely sacred month for the Shia community of Muslims. A month to show reverence and love for Panj-tan Pak, the family members of Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). No matter Shia or Sunni or any other sect Muslims belong to, they love and honor them and refrain from arranging marriages or other festivities, in remembrance of the great tragedy, this family suffered during this month.
So, everybody wanted to finish, before the start of this month.

Quratul-ain Gillani, also known as Annie Gillani, is the daughter of the renowned politicapersonality, Syed Tanveer-ul-Hassan Gillani.

Annie recently joined FMS' committee. Lucky for being a first timer, her name came out as the recipient of the committee
in the very first draw.

So, it was her turn to host a party. She decided to give a hi-tea at Ramada, on 26th of October. Although (as mentioned earlier), it was a busy-busy month for many and during this time, the turnover of the members at committee parties turn low. But Annie made it a point, to personally call, each and every member of the committee and invite them, in her sweet voice. Which indeed persuaded the members to find time out of their busy schedules and attend the party. The event turned to be wonderful. Thanks to the hospitable personality of the hostess.

The members looked great. All bright, cheerful and beautiful, after Eid. And remained relaxed, in the comfortable, oft-visited ambiance of  'whispers' restaurant.

Thanks Annie!! For hosting such a nice party. We look forward to more from you in the future.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...

Maria BB's dholki at Tehmina Munir's

Glimpses of the resplendent event at Tehmina Munir's house. SOS children's village Multan is a little wonderland. Where children are raised with all the love in the world. No blood relatives are required for the purpose, as SOS villages have their own family system and nurture a congenial environment. A village consists of several houses. Each house is an abode to ten children. Looked after by a lady, appointed as 'mother'. She is responsible for taking care of the household chores and of the children like a mother. In short, it is made sure, they receive the affection of sisters, brothers and a mother. If there are siblings residing in the village, it is ensured, they are housed together. So, they are not deprived of their blood relations as well. For the rest, the generous and kind 'friends of SOS' are always there to extend their loving gestures. The monthly committee party system is adopted to keep them actively involved in the life at SOS village and en...
