Ladies club Multan, is a remarkable platform for women to socialize and display their capabilities. For more than fifty years, this wonderful place has remained, a spot where working women, simple housewives, female civil servants, lady politicians, the learned & the learning,  got equal chance to display and share their creative abilities.

Ladies club, is now entertaining, the third and fourth generation of its members. Grand mothers started it, when they were young. Their daughters and daughters in laws, carried on. And now, their grand daughters are active members. But, it does not mean, the new ones are not welcome here. There are many young ladies, who have joined it, as first generation. And we wish and pray this tradition is carried on, in their upcoming generations.

As Multani-ites, celebrated Eid-ul-Azha, in October. The later part of the month of was bombarded with weddings. The commitments of the members in their personal life, caused a little delay in the program of Eid-Milan, get together. The event took place on 1st of November, just three days before beginning of Muharram (a month with no celebrations).

Mrs. Fariha Munir, Mrs. Naseem Raheem, Munaza Iqbal, Night Gillani, Farah Saqib, Rani Mudassar, Syeda Zuria Bokhari, Jaria, Farah Khwaja, Shagufta Khaksar, were among the members, who had arranged it.
Keeping in view, the pleasant weather, the function was organized, in the lawn.
Beautifully adorned by fairy lighting, the place glittered like a jewel. The turn over the members inspite of the busy wedding season, was great.

Syeda Zuria Bokhari had decorated the stage, with beautiful, ethnic sarees of her mother, which sure added color, elegance and style to the ambiance. Zuria also was handed over the charge of comparing in the show.

Zuria is an extremely talent, modern young woman. She teaches 'mass communication', in university of South Punjab. She is also the third generation of members of the ladies club. Her grandmother was among the pioneers, who started this facility for Multani women. Her mother, the distinguished Professor Fakhira Atiq Bokhari is one the most celebrated educationists in the city of saints and a prominent member of the club.. And now, Zuria has also made her mark by organizing  this lovely event. Before this, during summers, she went on to conduct, 'meditation classes' in the ladies club.

Back to the event; Zuria started the show by inviting Professor Shagufta Khaksaar. Who delivered a welcome speech and invited Zuria back, to conduct the show.

There were interactive games for the members. The  major Eid related event, was a catwalk of the ladies. The members were informed at the invitation that they have to come dressed in their Eid attires. Then, during the show, they had to walk like models. Which they gladly did. All the members looked great and walked as if a model on the ramp with feline grace.

Masooma Sibtain and Shagufta Khaksaar were requested be the judge of the show. The competition turned tough because, of the variety beauty of every size and age.

So, these intelligent judges, decided to categorize the positions.
1st category was of the senior most, Mrs. Tahira Najam won the prize for it.
2nd category, was for the young members, Ayesha Durrani stood out as a clear winner because of her stunning dress and beautiful personality.
The 3rd category was of those, who had really made an effort in dressing up.
The title, 'lady of the evening' was also decided to be given to the lady selected in this category. Shahnaz Iqbal, with 'bindia' on her forehead and bright clothes, seemed perfect candidate to Masooma Sibtain. So, she awarded the sash to her. The sash was specially created by Zuria herself.

After that a speech competition was also organized. All the members were invited to speak on the topic
''why I am proud of being a woman'.

Several members, including Miss Farah K. Khawaja, Shazia Shaad participated in it. But the finance secretary of the club, one of the senior most members, won the competition.

Mrs. Riaz Qureshi, another senior member was request to distribute the prizes, among the winners.

There were plenty of other games to entertain the members. The amazing part of the show was that, it started exactly at 6 pm, as promised by the hosts and ended exactly at 7pm.
And dinner was served soon after that.

But before that, Zuria and her friend Jaaria, had a surprise for all the members. As the ladies stepped up for dinner, the lawn was lit with fireworks. Which indeed seemed breathtaking. And this is how, a lovely autumn evening came to an end.

We congratulate the members for the splendid. And are grateful to Dr.
Munir Hussain Shah, who sponsored the lighting and the music system for the show. Thank you sir, you are always very kind and we look forward to more of your support in the future.

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo
