November get together at Ladies club.

The stage, beautifully decorated by Farrah Khwaja.

On 22nd November, the scheduled party of the month was arranged. As the sacred month of Muharram was about to be completed, its honour called for, no music or frivolity of any kind. Keeping in view the sober nature of the situation, Mrs. Shagufta Khaksar, Program secretary of the ladies club decided to invite a scholar for a lecture to enlighten members of the club about the lives and sacrifices of the holy 'Punjtan paak'.

Mrs. Najma Khand, Shehnaz Saleem, Afroz Sardar, Zuria Bokhari, Jaria Zahra, Tahira Mirza, Shagufta Khaksar, Farah Karim Khawaja and Fariha Munir Shah were among the hostesses of the event.

Even a simple, plain lecture by a scholar turned into a beautifully arranged function due to a young and very capable member Farah Karim KhawajaThis girl went, out of the way to get the decorations done for the occasion. She even got the stage painted, arranged temporary carpeting and brought materials from her home to beautify the stage. The stage appeared fabulous with simple, yet aristocratic set up. The reason, why it is being mentioned here is to encourage the younger generation to come forward and contribute. Because ladies club Multan, is a place, where efforts are appreciated and contributions truly admired. This club is for the purpose of entertainment and socializing of decent women of the society. Another home for them, where they can gather in an informal environment and enjoy nice company of other ladies. Each and every member is valuable and highly respected.

A great number of ladies turned out at the occasion. It seems the life here at the club is rejuvenated. More and more members are gracing the functions these days. Mrs. Shagufta Khaksar did the honours for Farah Karim Khawaja by introducing her to rest of the members and handing over the comparing to her and Farah did a great job.

First of all the lecture was arranged, the learned scholar Madam Rubina Raza, not only increased the knowledge of the members by sharing her information about the lives of five towering holy personalities of Islam but also answered the queries lurking in the minds of the ladies, regarding different issues.

Later, a little competition was carried out. All the members were requested, before the date of the program to come wearing a flower in their hair. A good number of ladies, totally forgot about it but those who remembered, received the prizes. Which included Uzma Burana and Shahnaz Iqball as well. Ladies were invited up he stage and displayd the flowers in their hair.

Prize distribution ceremony was arranged. Fariha Munir Shah was requested to give away the prizes. The female journalists are an inseparable part of the ladies club and this party had a nice representation of them. Shaireen Rana from Jang, Razia Beg from Nawai Waqt, Ruqaiya Naeem and Mahwish Khan, were among the leading names present there.

At the end, a scrumptious dinner was served. The awesome menu included Seekh kebabs, halwa poori, chollay. A great big serving of 'Chowmein' was also added to it, as a courtesy by our enthusiastic, young member Farah Karim Khawaja
.  Ladies club Multan thanks Farah for so much of dedication and also extends another thank to Dr. Munir Hussain Shah for providing generator and its fuel again, as the hours during which the function was carried out were the from 5pm to 7pm, which perfectly coincides the load shedding schedule of the area.Your contribution is always admired.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
