Azka Rani's Bollywood Birthday Bash

Birthday girl Azka Rani wth her mom and siblings

Arrival of new year brings for the hip, happening, party animals, the wait for Azka Rani's birthday. Because the natives of city of saints know, if it is Azka's birthday, it essentially has to be themed. A theme, which has not been followed earlier. Either for Azka's birthday or for her siblings. The curiosity gets intriguing at times. Everybody wonders, what is it going to be this time? A pool party, desi fusion,  some magical theme or something new? Everybody wishes to dress up accordingly and not to miss the party, as parties here are full of fun.

Being the perfect queen of themed birthdays that Azka's mom, Mala Ahsaan (Shimaila Jabeen) is, she knows keeping it a mystery is no good. The sooner, the cat is out of bag, the better it is. She wants all her guests to have enough of time for their preparations. So that everybody, including the party goer and party thrower is happy. Therefore, all the invitees are informed atleast a fortnight ago, if not more.

And theme selected for 2016 was ''Bollywood''. Guests were requested to come dressed up as Bollywood characters. Looking at avid fondness of Mala for extensive details, the venue for it could not be anywhere, but MGM (Multan Garrison Mess). Enormous cut outs of Bollywood stars were laid at the entrance and the party hall. A special backgrond with names of Bollywood movies served as Photo booth. Banners, posters of Bollywood movies adorned the walls. The beautifully lit ambiance echoed with dancing tunes of Bollywood songs. Disco lights, changed colours with music. Everything seemed magical.

As is the tradition of this family, games were an essential part of the party, alongwith lots of dancing. This time, acting and dialogue delivery were a part of it. Participants were asked to deliver dialogues of latest flicks. Maha Bokhari won first prize for dressing up as 'Bai Rao Mastani' and also for delivering its dialogue with great acting. Little lad, Muhammad Mustafa Bokhari won everybody's hearts with first prize for acting as Dev Das. Plenty of other fun activities remained in action during the party time to keep the guests engaged in enjoyment.

The birthday girl Azka Rani appeared lovely in Red Velvet flowing gown. Her siblings Aasiya, Aafreen and Annass also dazzled the scene as different Bollywood stars. Their mom, the gorgeous Mala, played her own character of real life heroine, dressed in Beautiful Black outfit. And her life partner, Mr. Ahsan Rasheed, a real hero in life, complimented his heroine gracefully. In short, the whole family enhanced the beauty of the party and theme.

Finally, after lots of fun, the time of cake ceremony arrived. The cake truly represented the enthusiasm of a movie buff. Also matched the colours of birthday girl's dress. Indeed thoughtful.

At the end a scrumptious dinner was served, with a great fusion of desi and modern cuisine. To suit the tastes of young and old alike. Indeed, it was a super event. We pray that this family remain blessed and happening forever and ever.

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
