Ladies club, Sept party by Uzma Burana and group

The big little talents,
the speaker Abdullah Durrani, the well dressed little girl Hajra Sana and the runner up Rania Babber

Ladies club Multan is no ordinary place. It has hosted generations over generations. Many of the ladies who are members today, were once brought as children, by their mothers or grand mothers, to participate in different activities. The love and dedication continues. Senior members like Uzma Burana are well very of the importance of producing such activities, which can involve the future generations. This year, like always, she and her group members, not only kept this in mind but also volunteered to resume club activities, by arranging first party after summer vacations.

As Eid-ul-Adha had just passed in September, with Pakistani defense day of 6th September, this group of geniuses decided to merge the two celebrations. On 18th September, they invited all the club members to attend their function in their eid dresses or clothes symbolizing colors of patriotism. There were three prizes in three categories, the senior most, the not so senior and for the children. Among seniors Mrs. Shahnaz Khakwani was declared the winner. Whereas in the younger lot, Sana Burana and among the children, little Hajra Sana was voted firsts, by show off hands.

Uzma Burana, while conducted the program, saluted the martyrs of Pakistani military and highlighted their role in the society. There was also a 'speech competition' for children on 'defense day', under 12 years, which was won by Mr. Abdullah Durrani. Here it is important to know, that his mother Ayesha Durrani is not only Asst. Program Secretary at the club but she has been participating in different activities in the club as a child, because her mom is a member too. It was with great fondness for her childhood days and nostalgia that she brought her son to take part in the show. It was not for the prize but the spirit participation and the joy of feeling of continued association with this great institute, called 'ladies club Multan'.

A quiz show on defense day was also conducted by Uzma Burana. Followed by lots of fun filled games. Which got all the members, running, rolling and laughing. All the participants were then awarded prizes. At the end, all the guests were given a treat of Pizza & salads, alongwith the tea. The children at the party, absolutely loved the pizza and the guests, enjoyed this unusual offering too.

The hostesses included the names of Uzma Burrana, Azra, Mehmooda Yasmeen, Ayesha Durrani, Mehvish, Lubna Yasmin, Yasmin Durrani, Muthiraa and others. They sure make a great group of hostesses, who always arrange their programs after brain storming together, bringing in, newer and better ideas. Well-done ladies! We sure admire your effort, your patriotism and dedication to the club. Keep up the good work!

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
