Annual official celebration (2017) at Ladies club Multan

The president of ladies club Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar addressing the gathering
Ladies club Multan is a unique platform, where generations and generations of local ladies have displayed their talents, extended their sisterhood and acquired fame. Interestingly, not everybody is aware of its magic, expect those who have been touched by it. For those who get under its spell, it becomes impossible to leave this association.

There are people like Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar here, who as a young bride joined this club and today is its president, when her grand children are getting married. There are women like Shagufta Khaksar, who as a young college girl, became a member to provide company to her own mother and aunt, served at almost every possible position at the club, including Secretary and is now the program secretary. Uzma Burana, an executive member, another talented lady, who has been constantly bagging the 'best party of the year prize' from last two years, was mom of toddlers, who have now got their own toddlers. Ayesha Durrani is another of the kind. This tall and gorgeous girl was not even half of her height, when she used to come here with her mom for children's activities. She is assistant program secretary today. Even, Fariha Munir, the Joint secretary (since forever and ever) became a member at 23 years of age and now almost spent the same time here. Secured lifetime achievement award and is a Joint secretary till date. Such great examples of attachment and association, rarely found elsewhere and being a member of this club, opens a door which opens in every other respectable household of the city of saints. This place has been entertaining and connecting women for more than fifty years.

There is also a tradition here that club throws an annual party for its members. And this year, it saw a vibrant one. Maybe the best one for a long time. As it was an official occasion, all the arrangement was to be done by the club administration. Fariha Munir, the joint secretary was bent upon making it a memorable one. Her enthusiasm was equally shared by Mrs. Shagufta Khaksar, the program secretary and her young assitants Farah Khawaja and Ayesha Durrani, alongwith media sec Tahira Najam. Shagufta came up with the idea of a game show, with plenty of prizes for the participants. The president Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar, also took part by granting the generous spending to please all the members of the club. After all, they arrange parties all the year round and now it was their time to enjoy one at the expanse. Each and every member was contacted, in every possible way and invited by the club admin.

Finally, when members reached the club on 28th October, a beautiful ambiance, lit with fairy lights, welcomed them. There were colors of joy and sounds of happiness. Music was in the air. Madam Shagufta Khaksar hosted first half the event. After recitation of holy Quran and hymns to honor, holy prophet (peace be upon him), she started the quiz program. Interesting questions were asked, members responded with excitement and received if their answers were correct. It turned out to an exhilarating round. Next session was hosted by the two beautiful young ladies, Ayesha Durrani and Farah Khawaja. They went on to host the game show. Members were asked to perform different activities and were awarded prizes on completion. The environment was filled with gifts and gifts, prizes and prizes. Lots of thrill, lots of fun that everybody enjoyed.

Finally, for prize distribution, the president Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was invited to give away the gifts. She also addressed the gathering and admired the excellence of the event, alongwith the efforts made by the admin. Shaireen Rana from Jang and Iqra from Nawai-waqt were also conferred upon, little tokens of love. She congratulated her team, specially Fariha Munir for making this occasion it more memorable and expressed her joy over the maximum participation by the members.

At the end a scrumptious dinner was served. The food was ordered from, 'Chop, chop by Hamd Saleem'. Which was so tasty that it was consumed in no time. But for sweet, there  were cakes, made on special order from 'the little cake company by Zahra Shah'. The cakes were consumed even more quickly before rest of the food, as the president, Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar had specially specially mentioned the brilliance of the skills of the little chef, Zahra Shah, who had made these cakes. This event turned out to be the most happening one in the entire year of the ladies club. Congratulations to the president and rest of the admin for making it greater!

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo
