Friends of SOS at Saadia Doggar's house

It is heartening to see, the variety of people 'friends of SOS committees' boast of. From the bold and beautiful, westernized, modern, fashionables, to true religiously strict, every kind is together to support this noble cause. Without any prejudice or prejudgement, they are united and ready to give their best and serve for this gentle assignment, according their own style and taste.

One such generous display came from Sadia Doggar, who opened the doors of her house to all the friends of SOS for an unusual kind of gathering. She and her group members, Umbreen Qureshi and Anjum Malik, arranged 'a religious treat of sunnah'. Complete with a lecture, different performances, game shows, involving Islamic awareness and religious information. It is truly amazing, how this group of hostesses worked hard to make this serious event, entertaining and full of fun. Truly exceptional.

On 16th December, Saadia Doggar's palatial house welcomed its guests with gushing fountains and glittering chandliers. Although, there is hardly anybody, who is hip and happening, in the city of saints, but not in this committee. Yet, in addition to regular members, many other guests were also invited by the hostesses, inorder to introduce them to this august cause. Among the regulars, Saadia Yaqoob, Saima Faisal and Fariha Munir Shah were present at the occassion.

Everything was carefully arranged. Entire sitting arrangement was done in majestic lounge of the house. A screen, sound system, beautiful lighting, etc, used to convey the message of charity in Islam. All the performances, Islamic lecture and the quiz program, were focussed on the topic, how Allah Almight and our holy prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) insisted on taking care of the orphans and the needy. Even a role play was beautifully acted upon to elaborate its significance. The lecture was delivered by Saadia Doggar herslf, as she is now a qualified scholar of Quran and Sunnah.

Mahnaz Fareed, the secretary general of SOS also addressed the gathering and expressed her joy over this beautiful manifestation of charity in religion. She said, this message needed to be spread more and with equal vehemence as demonstrated by the hostesses of this event. Haniya Shahid also congratulated the organizers for putting such an amazing show and also for donating their committees to SOS.

Although, guests were kept served with soups, tea and drinks, during the session, but at the end, a scrumptious, sumptous lunch awaited them. Ladies truly enjoyed exploring, every edge and corner of Saadia's newly built grandiose house. Specially the terrace outside the dinning hall turned out to be the favorite place by the ladies to sit, after filling up their plates, to enjoy basking in the sun, as the winters were at the peak.

Congratulations to Saadia Doggar, Umbreen Qureshi, Anjum Malik and all the other group members, for arranging such a fabulous show. It will be remembered for a long time.

To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th
