Sufi night by Mamoona and Qasim Khwaja

Farrah Ilyas, Rabia Bosan, Mamoona Qasim, Qasim Khwaja, Basit Bosan and Mr. Shoaib Bosan

You need to be ready for something larger than life, when attending any event conducted by Khwajas of Multan. Even if you are informed, it is a small gathering, be prepared to face atleast a hundred people. Double, triple the number, if by any means, it has something to do with Rabia Bosan. Now you would say, she is a Bosan and we are talking about Khwajas here. For your information, she is Khwaja by birth. Farah Ilyas and Rabia, both of the grandmas of the twins, 'Muhammad Ameer Hamza and Muhammad Qadir, 'the sufi night' was organied to celebrate birthday and aqeeqa of, are real sisters and Khwajas. Gone are the days of boring grandmas with white hair and roseries in their hands, sitting on prayer mats. City of saints, now boasts of beautiful grandmas like these. Who, not only dress up and look good, but also provide others its opportunity, by throwing great functions and parties.

The 'sufi night' was arranged in marquees at MGM (services club Multan) on the eve of 30th April. Mamoona Qasim, when hiring professional decoration services, made sure that ambiance must appear truly regal.  Every nook and corner had something unique to compliment the theme. The sitting was divided into two separate areas for ladies and gentlemen. The one for ladies had a beautiful set-up of a royal nursery, fit for a baby king. Enormous Golden vases filled with flowers, aristocratic furniture, screens, mirrors and a pair of lifesize toy horses. Complete with a royal crown cake. Whereas, in men's area, tents with domes and minarets were erected, to remind people of origin of sufi-ism. Stage was on the same side was adorned with similar kind of objects. Chandeliers throughout the area enhanced the splendour of things. Green, Gold and Blue colours were dominant. In addition to all this, attendants and servers were dressed in traditional costumes and attires, with Arabic metal pots and pans, serving soft drinks, juices and water, distributing the giveaways to everybody.

No ordinary qawal, but Asif Ali Khan Santoo with his companions
was invited to deliver. There was a Sufi dance performance by a group of students. There was a continous flow of hamds and naats before everything, with recitation of the holy Quran. The chief guests were honorable Pirs of Golra Sharif. All the renowned and notable people of Multan spared their time to be at this gathering. Mr. Qasim Khwaja with his father Mr. Ilyas Khwaja, father-in-law Mr. Shoaib Bosan and brother-in-law Bassat Bosan, displayed great spirit of hospitality. Personally welcomed all the gentlemen and made sure, their guests are entertained well.

All the ladies of Khawaja family are the sweetest people on Earth. They are born hostesses, you will find their courtesy and hospitality to people, even unknown to them. Rabia Bosan, Farah Ilyas and Mamoona Khwaja did display their sweet and kind, hospitable nature. Personally reached out and attended all their female guests, which was not less than a Herculean task. At the end of everything, a scrumptious dinner was served, which reminded people of weddings. It was, for sure an affair, as formal, as a wedding.

Here we would like to add a little piece of information about Mamoona Qasim. She is former student of Beaconhouse and of Multan college of fashion design. She has great designing skills and has recently launched a designer brand by the name of 'Tiraz by Mamoona and Bushra', which is not only stocked at FPL but also has a display in Gulgasht, Multan's own fashion district. She is lucky to have a supporting husband, who despite being from a big industrial family supports his wife's flair for creativity and business.

Lots of prayers and best wishes for the twins, their parents, grand parents and entire family. May God bless them with successful, happy, long lives and provide them many opportunities to witness such blessed festivities.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...
