This year (2021) Pakistan's independence day arrived in the sacred month of ' Muharram', which is believed to be a month of woe and bereavement for Shia Muslims and their sentiment is honored by all. Patriotic people opted for other alternates to rejoice the day this nation acquired freedom.
Inspired by Prime minister of Pakistan and encouraged by PHA (Pakistan horticultural association) specially in Multan, majority of patriots celebrated 14th August by carrying out plantation drives throughout the country. Being one of them, we also followed the plan and launched a campaign for Greener Pakistan under the banner of I Multan .
As you all know, due to massive urbanization and construction of residential colonies, Multan had earned quite some notoriety over the ruthless cutting of trees. Specially of the orchards of mangoes, a fruit which is among few of the identities of the city of saints. Although, we cannot regrow trees that quickly, but if we plant today, 20 years later, our children or grand children may reap its fruit.
With this determination, we started this venture. Team
I ❤️ Multan
alongwith its enthusiastic members like Abdul Rauf Roofi , Aaiesha Sh , Saleh Lashari joined this cause. On 8th August first 'clean & green plantation campaign' started under the leadership of Mam Layla Saqib. Inaugurated with first tree planted by Dr. Munir Hussain Shah . Mam Layla Saqib arranged the gardeners and the plants were gifted by her students. Whereas, Ayesha Siddiqa suggested the venue and coordinated with the principal 'Govt elementary girls high school' Chowk fawara. We remain thankful to them all for their services and support.
The next event was held on 14th August, at F.G. Degree college for women, Multan cantt. As most of the female admin members of team
I ❤️ Multan
are the former alumni of the same institute. Quite gladly they joined hands for the cause.
Madam Hijab Fatimah, the principal of this college (who is an alumna of the same institution) remained a great support. Truly grateful to her for giving us this opportunity to contribute something for our alma mater and another step for 'Greener Pakistan'.
Among all, thanks to Shazia Arshad who is also partner admin of
