Post CoVid19 reunion of friends of SOS Multan

Hostesses of the event, together with mothers of SOS village Multan

SOS villages are not just a haven for the homeless, but a highly developed and organized system, aimed at raising abandoned or orphaned children in a way that they do not feel deprived of their family. SOS villages consist of several houses. Children reside in each house as brothers and sisters. Looked after, by a lady, employed as 'MOTHER'. Who is responsible for looking after the children in a house. She takes care of their daily routines, like personal hygiene, cooks their meals and makes sure they are looked after properly, just like a regular loving and caring mother. Not the real mothers of children, but these 'mothers' take care of other people's children, as their own, a self sacrificing and arduous task. After a long break of Corona-pause, when the activities at the social scene of 'Friends of SOS' Multan, resumed in October. The administrative team of SOS, decided to honor these 'mothers' for all their efforts, specially during the difficult CoVid19 pandemic times, and invited them as 'chief guests' at the committee party of the month. Hosted by Asma Nadeem, Afshan Waseem, Irum  Manan, Kiran Rashid, Mona Shahid, Riffat Abid, Rukhsana Naeem, Shahnaz Sami, Seemi, Hafza Bukhari, Afshan Hamid, Arifa Waqar, Attia Shireen Bukhari, Amna Dogar, Kiran Dogar, Novaira Fahad Khwaja, Neelum Zia, Rukhsana Jabeen, Madiha, Saima Tariq, Humaira and Saima Sohail. at Ramada hotel Multan, on Monday 12th Oct 2020. Highlights of the event, included a special video tribute created by Mahnaz Fareed, which was presented at the event, to honor these women. They were all invited on the stage and presented gifts by the hostesses of the party. Hania Shahid, addressed the gathering and said , 'These ladies are the main strength of SOS village. As an acknowledgement of their contributions and dedication, these mothers were the chief guests at the occasion, as they remain the actual force responsible for proper training and upbringing of children at the village. These mothers are the real heroes'. Saima Faisal also admired their efforts and thanked the hostesses for dedicating the event to them. Hania Shahid, also thanked two of the hostesses of the event, Arfa waqar and Afshan Aziz, who donated complete amount of their committee to SOS village. She added, it is this philanthropic spirit of the natives of the city of saints, which makes every project at SOS village a great success.
Salutes to SOS village, its entire team, alongwith these mothers, who play a massive role in inculcating great values in children of SOS and it is because of them that children of sos are high achievers and perform great at every level in curricular and extra curricular activities everywhere.
Hats off to Mahnaz Fareed too, who heads all the projects of Sos in Multan and we believe, she is to Multan, what Mother Teresa was to India. Keep up the good work ladies! See you next time.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
