Milaad at ladies 2020

Glimpses of the event

Life is so unpredictable. It often leaves us bewildered by its strange arrangements. Like this Milaad was not planned by this group of ladies at the club, they had arranged some other extravagant fun show in the beginning of the spring. Then the Corona quarantine struck and everything was postponed.

In October, Mrs. Jameeda Malik, the head of this prestigious group of ladies (known at the club by the title of 'Professors' Group) requested the administration to open the club. So that she and her group fellows are free of their responsibility of holding an event.

As the sacred Islamic month of Rabi-ul-awal had started, Mrs. Jameeda Malik expressed a desire to hold a milaad, a religious congregation to honor the noble personality of Prophet, Muhammed   (peace be upon him). She also mentioned that, the part of life she is in, she does not know, if she is going to see the next year. As if something inside her knew her fate.

Ladies club administration agreed to Mrs. Jameeda Malik's request and opened the club for her to arrange the milaad on 21st October. She organized a fabulous event, with all her friends and group members, which included
Mrs. Safia Riaz Qureshi, Mrs. Altaf Qureshi, Mrs. Shahwaar Masood, Mrs. Ruqaiya Ishtiaq, Mrs. Gulnaz Shaheryar, Mrs. Riffat Ahad, Mrs. Surriya Asif, Mrs. Fakhra Ateeq Bokhari and her daughter Mrs. Haniya Shahid Khokhar. A leading speaker delivered the sermon, about the life and characteristics of last Prophet of all Abrahamic religions, Muhammed ﷺ . Then the guests were invited to come forward and offer Naats  (hymns to honor the noble personality the evening was dedicated for). Each one of them was awarded a gift for participation.

Meanwhile, garlands of Jasmine and roses, traditional mouth fresheners like saunf supari were served alongwith hand sanitizers and face masks. Following SOPs, the entrance to the event was only allowed to those who wore masks. Those who arrived without masks, were presented there at the spot. Another appreciable gesture to follow the SOPs was, food was not served on the dinning table, but all the guests were handed over beautiful dinner-boxes, complete with sweet dish and Biryani rice.

A prize distribution ceremony also took place. Former Gen. Secretary Mahnaz Amir and former joint secretary Fariha Munir were requested to give away the prizes, on behalf of the host group. Some important announcements were made by Fariha Munir Shah, about the change in administration. Mrs. Shagufta Khaksar appointed as interim Gen. Secretary. Ayesha Saddiqa as Assistant Program Secretary. Farah Karim Khawaja was presented a shield of gratitude and thanked for her services as Gen. Sec. from 2018 to 2020. Asma Khan to continue as Program Secretary, Ayesha Durrani as Joint secretary and Farrah Saqib as Finance secretary.

It turned out to be a fabulous function. Everybody admired the efforts of the group members, being seniors and not so well at health, the ladies conducted a wonderful event and they all pointed to the head of the group for its credit. Nobody knew that ten days later, on 31st October, Mrs. Jameeda Malik would leave everybody saddened and depart from the world. Leaving behind an example and legacy of being an extremely responsible member and an individual. It seemed the ladies club, despite Corona scare, was only opened for her to assemble and bid farewell to all her friends and members of the club. The more we remember that, the more the grief grips our heart. May her soul rest in eternal peace and Almighty Allah provide solace to the bereaved family.

Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
