Friends of SOS is a great platform. Alongwith supporting the noble cause of SOS, it not only brings people together, polishes their philanthropic and social skills and provides them lots of other learning opportunities. One such event was organised by the hostesses of SOS committee party for the month of August. Fatima, Fatima Zahra, Hafza, Hina, Sana, Khadija, Saiqa, Zeb and Saira brought to other members a culinary class by the expert chefs of Ramada hotel Multan.

The party was arranged in the spacious Maryam hall of Ramada and attended by an impressive number of the members. Rameen Anis and Mahnaz Fareed delivered presentation on achievements and success stories of SOS Multan. Not only these children are provided a respectable living and education but efforts are made to settle them at the best possible places in life. Boys, until they are capable of earning and supporting themselves and girls till they get married. There is a long list of achievements in this regard, which would take blogs and blogs if shared here.

The best thing about these committee parties is the participation of children of SOS. Sometimes the little lot is invited and sometimes, the teenaged girls or grown up boys are there to participate. Their birthdays and achievements are celebrated by us all, just like a family. This time too, a group of pretty, young ladies from SOS children were there to attend the class. The way they dressed, the free spirited joy and confidence they reflected, was enough of display that so much of hard work is there to build their characters and personalities.

Mahnaz Fareed thanked friends of SOS for their continued support and dedication to the cause. Rameen Anis then invited the chefs of Ramada to share their culinary skills. For the purpose complete facilities of cooking range and grills were provided on the stage. The experts went on to explain the recipes in form of a lecture and then actually displayed all the steps of cooking one by one. The members were invited to join them on stage and ask questions if found anything too complicated.

The environment was charged with excitement. Flash lights, pictures and selfies raged in the hall. It was a fun filled evening and a complete houseful gathering. It seemed members were looking forward to such events that they still have to miss due to Corona restrictions. Yet their resilience is appreciable, they are back to life to normalise it, as much as possible.

At the end, a feast of Ramada hi-tea awaited them all. The menu was super sumptuous and scrumptious for which we would like to give credit to Saima Faisal, who has been after all the positive changes in Ramada. Specially the Banoffee pie was to die for. Keep up the good work Ramada and well done SOS, friends of SOS and a special appreciation for Saiqa, who remained on her toes during the whole show, being an amazing hostess. Best of luck to everyone. God bless you all.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Maria BB's dholki at Tehmina Munir's

Glimpses of the resplendent event at Tehmina Munir's house. SOS children's village Multan is a little wonderland. Where children are raised with all the love in the world. No blood relatives are required for the purpose, as SOS villages have their own family system and nurture a congenial environment. A village consists of several houses. Each house is an abode to ten children. Looked after by a lady, appointed as 'mother'. She is responsible for taking care of the household chores and of the children like a mother. In short, it is made sure, they receive the affection of sisters, brothers and a mother. If there are siblings residing in the village, it is ensured, they are housed together. So, they are not deprived of their blood relations as well. For the rest, the generous and kind 'friends of SOS' are always there to extend their loving gestures. The monthly committee party system is adopted to keep them actively involved in the life at SOS village and en
