FMS committee party kicks off for 2022/23

FMS committee stars.

FMS committee group came into existence in 2003. When two of her favourite friends were declined membership of another committee group due to some internal politics, which truly offended Fariha Munir Shah and she decided to leave that group too. She was then encouraged by her daughter Fatima to start a committee, specially to honour those two of her friends. Over the years, FMS committee parties became quite popular and developed a great reputation, that it had the power of carving out most happening of people in Multan and it included, the prettiest, most talented, fun loving ladies of the city of saints. FMS committee group took many turns, served as a great platform to socialise. Provided social ladder for many, and connected like-minded women. Gave birth to many new friendships. It went full circle several times, for more than fifteen years. Women fought to become a part of it. It was a massive success, but its originator FMS discontinued it due to her extremely busy lifestyle and social commitments. Finally, on the insistence of the old members and some new ones, this September, FMS resumed its activities, after a break of almost five years. The kick off event took place at Fariha Munir Shah's house, on 17th, with a lunch. It turned out to be a wonderful gathering. The entire place was decorated with amazing balloon settings, which added the true touch of party spirit. Carefully thought, planned and arranged by RJ party organiser. You can also contact him at his number, 03137729913 for all the party decorations. The number of members of the committee was already decided, as FMS knew, the more the word would go around about it, the more people would insist and like to be a part of it and it would become difficult for her to accommodate everybody, but at the same time, she invited relevant group of friends. Specially of her friend Mala's company, as her birthday just passed on 14th and Fariha wanted to hold her cake cutting ceremony as well, alongwith Nadia Amir. Afshan Waseem, Umbreen Qureshi and Shazia Durrani, Tasbiha Sarfraz, were among them. Also, the best 'media committee' that Women's chamber of commerce and industry Multan (WCCIM) ever had, was also invited as guest. Tahira Najam, Farah Farhan, Nosheen Qureshi, Ammara Nazir, Abida were there, alongwith FMS, who was their convener in this term for the years 2021-22. Renowned educationist from department of English, BZU Qamar Khushi was also who graced the event. Alongwith the IT expert Ayesha Najeeb. Members of latest FMS committee include the names of Aasma Salman, Freeha Ismail, Mala Ahsan, Kiran Dogar, Rabia Bosan and Zehra Bassat. These members are a part of this committee from the beginning. Whereas, the beautiful new members are Sarah Bilal Ahsan, Sobia Rizwan, Zaneb Raza, Dr. Munazza Nasir, Shahnaz Nasir, Yasmin Mahmood, Sabahat Qaisrani, Afshan Khawar, Uzma Khan, Hafsa Ali Siddiqui, Shiriin Tasawur and Mahwish Abdul Haq. Fariha Munir apologised from those she was incapable of making a part of this committee party group, as it was to respect the wishes of those who approached her first and she based it on first come, first served. She announced, soon she is going to start another and then would add all those who were willing to join. Anyway, we are sure, this awesome group of people of latest FMS committee is going to bring more fame and joy for its members and you are going to see all their parties and activities on FarihaMunirShahTimes. So stay tuned! Lots of love and prayers for you all.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...
