Tambola and musical evening by friends of SOS

The beautiful, smiling faces of SOS children

Friends of SOS Multan is first of its kind, charity based committee party. Where members pay a minor amount every month and then receive half of it & donate half of it to SOS village Multan.

This committee is successfully run by extremely capable Haniya Shahid for almost two decades. She has brilliantly gathered hundres of ladies together at this platform, which serves the philanthropic and social spirit together.

All the happening, fun loving, beautiful, kind hearted, social, young or old, housewives, working women of Multan at one place. Bound together, with the noble cause of SOS. If you are new in Multan and you want to know everyone in the city, just join 'friends of SOS committee group'.

It is so much fun as well. Just look at the recent party arranged by its members for the month of December and January together. Took place on 24th Janury. It had a bonfire, at poolside of Ramada hotel, a musical band to give live performance, brought there by Samreen Zeeshan and a wonderful round of 'tambola', witingly conducted by maestro Fariha Munir, with amazing gifts for the winners from hostesses of this party.

Their names are, Afsheen Badar, Alina Riffat, Hafsa Ali Siddiqui, Hafza Buhari, Rabia Abdul Wahid, Saira Rehman, Samreen Zeeshan, Dr.Reena, Shehar Bano Raza, Amra Bucha, Anila Iftikhar, Ayesha Najeeb, Freeha Ismail, Mehreen Bucha, Seema Amanat Niazi, Seemal Kanju, Tehmina Kakwani, Haniya Shahid and Fariha Munir.

Usually the number of members in each group is ten, but as this party was for two months, therefore, the number of members was more. These large groups have great advantage.  When so many people arrange the party together, the spending is automatically shared and reduced. What is more, all arrangements can be left on SOS official. You just request them and they execute perfectly. No hassle at all.

Friends of SOS never forget the children of SOS at such events. At above mentioned party, thirty girls from SOS were invited. Exposure to such functions, help strengthen the confidence to move in every society. All of the children, alongwith friends of SOS truly enjoyed eachothers company.

Mahnaz Fareed Sheikh, who is the head of all SOS projects in Multan, briefed the audience about the recent wedding organized for the adult girls of SOS, through a visual presentation of video. ahnaz thanked friends of SOS for their constant support.

The menu was lavish. Live cooking of chapli kebabs, prawns and jalebi with expert Ramada chefs. Tea, coffee and company, over delicious food and desserts. Thanks to Saima Faisal for wonderful arrangement.

The turnover of guests was heartwarming in the cold of January eve. They were all in high spirits and in a mood to enjoy, a lot of singing along with the band and a bit of dancing with the chidren of SOS. It was an evening well spent and will remain imprinted on the minds of many in times to come. Well done, once again, friends of SOS.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...
