International stuttering day 2023 celebration by Enlightened Multan

Glimpses of the international stuttering day 2023 celebration

The most unique feature of Enlightened Multan is that, they were the first to introduce the idea of presenting talk shows on a regular basis in the city of saints. Holding gatherings over meaningful discussions, brainstorming, broadening vistas of knowledge, instead of frivolous fun and shallow entertainment.

As someone, who has been with them from day one, yours truly is a witness of their hard work and efforts. Their first show kicked off with the same zeal as was the last one. They did not lose their interest or commitment on the way, year after year and on 22nd October, the natives of the city of saints enjoyed a magnificent show, which turned out to be a true celebration of 'international stuttering day'.
News of its splendid success spread like wildfire, through print, electronic and social media. A lot of preparation and planning went into it. On 15th October, representatives of all the tv channels and most popular of social media influencers were invited to attend a 'press conference' at London Courtyard by Mahwish Abdulhaq and Khwaja Abdulhaq. Abdulhaq requested them to spread the message, alongwith attending the event. He briefed the media about the upcoming event and shared important details, also encouraged the attendees to share their own experiences, how they perceive 'stuttering' and how much they know about it. It resulted in a great discussion and many participants discussed the troubles and taboos attached with it.
The main event was conducted in Multan Marquee, on 22nd October, as planned earlier. Resulted in amazing turnover and overwhelming response. Prominent personalities who attended the event, included the names of Dr. Munir Hussain Shah admin of I ❤️ Multan, Hajra Shah of I ❤️ Multan , Mr. Nadir Khan, Mrs. Tehmina Munir, Yasmin Awan, Mrs. Hafsah Ali Siddiqui, Ambreen Abbas Khan, Laila Saqib, Mr. Hassan Bari, Mr. Tee Durrani, Mr. Zeeshan, Dr. Seerat Fatima, Mrs. Rubina Rauf, Nosheen and Abida from media committee Wccim, Asma Khan from ladies club, Asma Nadeem from Shah sons, Rabia Wahid and many more.

Speakers included imminent names like Professor Dr. Javed Iqbal (surgeon, medical teacher and social reformer), Jibran Bashir (leadership coach and economy reformist), Dr. Kanwal Kaisser (pediatrician and lifestyle physician) and the last, but the most significant, Mr. Khawaja Abdulhaq director Mahmood textile mills and founder of Enlightened Multan). You all know the names of these speakers and what they must have said, but what I have to say, is a little different.
Of all the distinguished speakers at this event, my personal favorite was, who spoke at the last. My little brother (not by blood, but in spirit), Khawaja Abdul Haq . Someone, who has personally experienced it and suffered stigmas associated with it.
Each of his words, came from his heart. Abdulhaq is a brilliant example of how one can transform one's inabilities to capabilities. How family support and encouragement can make someone a winner, while the world pushes and wishes them to be a loser. How, an educated , enlightened, loving, caring and supportive wife like Mahwish Abdulhaq , who stands by her husband through thick and thin, makes him stronger.
If Abdulhaq had not gone through all this, how would he have known all this and how would he have created this enlightening platform and encouraged others to speak about it, share their experiences.
Through this event, we also learned that people like the current US president, Joe Biden and so many celebrated artists also suffered from stuttering. If it could not prevent them, from achieving the greatest heights in life, if it could not hinder Abdulhaq from dreaming big and achieving it, nothing is going to stop us all.
It was an extremely well organized show. Multan marquee has beautiful setting, which was enhanced by careful planning and amazing set up. Everyone in the gathering could witness the speakers clearly on the enormous LED screens.
The talk show was followed by prize distribution ceremony, the chief guest, Mr. Khwaja Yunus, director general of Mahmood textile mills gave away the prizes on behalf of Enlightened Multan. The event was followed by a lunch. We congratulate the EM taskforce, which is now lead by Seerat Fatima of FEMITECH for making this event memorable. Specially for me, by presenting this beautiful shield. It sure made my day. Thank you again Enlightened Multan, Khawaja Abdul Haq and Mahwish. Enlightened Multan has further broadened their activities on regular basis. Every month, there are going to be meetups and activities. We encourage you all to be a part of this enlightening platform. M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...
