Latest event by APWA Multan

APWA or all Pakistan women's association, is undoubtedly the oldest organization, which was established for the betterment of Pakistani women & society, as it was founded soon after our country came into existence.

In Multan, the harbinger, the flag bearer of this cause has been the most distinguished lady, who is behind almost every other project for women empowerment in this city, none other the very famous chairperson APWA begum Farrukh Mukhtar.

Her second in command, who has reinvented this cause in a revolutionary way, the vice chairperson Mrs. Farah Faisal. This girl is as capable, as dedicated to this cause & as beautiful a person inside out as her mother inlaw Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is. Farah Faisal has infused new spirit in APWA Multan. She has activated it in full throttle & alongwith educational opportunities for the ladies, organized useful activities, inspirational & motivational sessions, time after time.

Farah Faisal has also raised a fabulous new team of volunteers & executive members, who are always there to support this cause. Amazing ladies like Mrs. Nazia Khan , Mrs. Tahira Najam , Mrs. Tehmina Munir , Seerat Fatima , Mrs. Yasmeen Bokhari & many others have displayed great commitment towards APWA, which is truly commendable.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...

Celebration of Saraiki culture

Uzma Burana hosting her show Multan is one of the few places on earth, where Saraiki is regarded a native language.  As this city is considered a parallel civilization to Rome; Saraiki is often compared to French language in sweetness, softness and beauty. It has a strange poetic quality about it. This language is widely spoken in entire South of Punjab and at the bordering areas in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah. Richness of Saraiki heritage and culture can flabbergast those, who are unaware of it. Vibrance of colours, ethnic touch, elegance wrapped in austerity, these characteristics truly elevate Saraiki handicrafts from rest of the world. Here, everything can be hand embroidered. Apparel, shoes, beddings, wall hangings, table to foot mats. You name it and Saraiki people would present to you an article dripping with colour, shimmer and originality. Artefacts made of camel skin, mirror work, miniatures, paintings, mosaic. Truly hand made, from beginni...
