Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'.

She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.

Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists for almost 6 decades now, created for women to connect and indulge in social and creative activities.

She is also 'patron in chief' of  Women's chamber Multan. Which is comparatively a newer venture, but it has elevated the status of ordinary home based businesses of women of the area, to an extremely prestigious level. Specially, Blue fair which takes place around ''international women's day'' every year. This event has proved to be a great podium to promote small businesses by female entrepreneurs and has helped accentuate the great contributions extended by them in every field.

One of the great characteristics of Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is also, assigning tasks to the right person. It has helped all the institutions she is leading to carve niche in its own place. It is through this Women's chamber that many female leaders like Masooma Sibtain, Mahnaz Amir, Farrah Faisal have emerged in the business scene of Pakistan. These women and many others from this chamber, are proudly representing Multan at national and international level.

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar strengthened Girl Guides of Multan, APWA and patronizes many other such institutions. She is the Chief executive officer of Fatima group of industries and plenty of other businesses. God has bestowed upon her blessings of every kind. She is not just beautiful outside but possesses a heart of Gold. She is truly a well loved personality among women of Multan, because of her loving , kind and down to earth nature.

God has blessed her with beautiful family. Her late husband, Mr. Mukhtar A. Sheikh was a great industrialist. She is mother of three successful sons, Mr. Fawad Mukhtar, Mr. Fazal Mukhtar, Mr. Faisal Mukhtar and two equally successful daughters, Mrs. Mahnaz Amir (owner of wood carvers) and Fadia Kashif (the might behind TZP foundation. No doubt, looking at them, one can see, from whon they have inherited these traits and good looks. Indeed from their mother, Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar.

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was born on 17th December. So, today is her birthday. Help us wish her, a very happy birthday. This is also a tribute and an acknowledgement that we love her with all our heart. Lots of love and prayers for a long, happy , healthy and successful life.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Celebration of Saraiki culture

Uzma Burana hosting her show Multan is one of the few places on earth, where Saraiki is regarded a native language.  As this city is considered a parallel civilization to Rome; Saraiki is often compared to French language in sweetness, softness and beauty. It has a strange poetic quality about it. This language is widely spoken in entire South of Punjab and at the bordering areas in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah. Richness of Saraiki heritage and culture can flabbergast those, who are unaware of it. Vibrance of colours, ethnic touch, elegance wrapped in austerity, these characteristics truly elevate Saraiki handicrafts from rest of the world. Here, everything can be hand embroidered. Apparel, shoes, beddings, wall hangings, table to foot mats. You name it and Saraiki people would present to you an article dripping with colour, shimmer and originality. Artefacts made of camel skin, mirror work, miniatures, paintings, mosaic. Truly hand made, from beginni...
