Ladies club (Re-opening after vacations) 6th Sept.

September 2012, remained a great month for partying in the city of saints. The reason, no posts appeared on this blog, during this month is; while the city was full of life and activities, the author of the blog (my humble self, of course) was out, touring United States. My sincere apology to those, who visited this blog in quest of something new but were disappointed. And a promise, this month is not going to be spared. We already have some data about few of the events, which took place during this month and our updates begin for you, with this post right now.

After summer vacations, according to the tradition, 'Ladies club, Multan', re-opened doors of activities for all its members. On 6th September, a day, which is also celebrated as 'defence day' (reminder of the war of 1965 ). The first party of the season was arranged by the group of Mrs. Naseem Raheem, her daughter in-law Farrah Saqib, along with senior memebers, the Khwaja sisters, Mrs. Farah Ilyas, Mrs. Ayesha Abdullah, Miss Shamsa Khwaja & Mrs. Rabia Bosan. Forgive me, if I have forgotten any names of the members.

The striking element of the event was, Mrs. Naseem Raheem (the head of this group) is among few of the most creative women of this city. Whenever, it is the turn of her group to host a party, people expect a lot. Her group always provided the most entertaining events, like variety programs, bassants, etc. And this time, she had also promised a function of a similar kind, with lots of excitements. But unfortunately, due to some difficulties, only dinner could be hosted. Mrs. Raheem went to the rostrum and apologized for being unable to produce any fun activity. Anyway, the guests and rest of the members were not ready to give up. Mrs. Tahira Najam (the literary secretary of the club) reached out to the stage and invited ladies to make speeches about 'defence day'. Many of the members contributed and saved the occasion from turning out to be a disappointment.

At the end, the dinner was served. And as Shakespeare said, ' all is well, when the end is well'.

Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
