Fashion show by Masooma Sibtain Shoaib.

Filza Akbar, Humera, Masooma Shoaib.

When it is about fashion, style and stunning apparels in Multan. No one holds a pedestal so high as Masooma Sibtain Shoaib. A pioneer in the world of designing, a celebrated entrepreneur. She has to her credit, the raging successful businesses and brands like 'TRENDS', 'SILKZ', 'ZUBIA ZAINAB', etc. This beautiful lady with an enchanting personality, is not just a success in herself but a great source of  inspiration for the budding designers, stylists and businesswomen of  South Punjab. Few minutes of an ordinary discussion with this amazing woman, can change your life forever. She is so motivating and encouraging that she can set your soul afire with a determination to do something sublime. She headed, 'South Punjab, women chamber of commerce and industry' as president, and paved way for many aspiring females into the world of entrepreneurship in the international market.

Like many other charitable causes, Masooma is also associated with SOS village. Being a member of 'friends of SOS village committee', it was her turn in September to host a party. Extremely thoughtful of her and her partners Humera Ejaz and Filza Akbar, they decided to entertain their guests with an extra ordinary treat of a fashion show. Because of unavailability of trained staff, they took arrangements in their own hands. They selected 'Zanzibar' as the venue to showcase their exhibits. Invited the students of Beaconhouse school (whom they had already trained as models, during another fashion show at the beginning of the year at Ladies club Multan. Here is the link of the coverage that show http://farihamunirshahtimes.blogspot.com/2012/04/fashion-show-28th-january-2012.htm ).

But still, the perfectionist that Masooma is; all the young models were made to rehearse for few days. When the D-day arrived, on September 8th, even mother Nature turned against them. It rained so profusely that the entire city was flooded. But Masooma knew no fear, she carried on her plan. All the models had their hair and make-up done by a parlour. Perfectly groomed, the young models bedazzled the cat walk. And later all the ladies present as guests at the party were also invited to grace the catwalk.

The turn over of the members was amazing, which was enough of proof, how splendid this event turned out to be.  Most of the clothes were designed by Masooma's daughter Zubia Zainab, who holds the honour of being the youngest person in Pakistan to boast a brand in her name (she is only seventeen years old). And the photography was again done by her other daughter Bisma Shoaib, alongwith famous photographer of Multan, Hurraima Durrani.

There was also a prize for 'the model of the evening'. Mrs. Zeba Javed and Mrs. Anjum Sohail were the judges. According to their decision Zahra Shah Bokhari was selected for the title.

We congratulate Masooma and her partners for providing 'the city of saints', another fascinating evening, which will not be forgotten for years to come.

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...
