Committee party by Rabia Rehman and Saima Faisal.

Two beautiful friends and hostesses of the event.
Saima Faisal and Rabia Rehman.

October 2012, turned out to be a very pleasant month for the natives of Multan. A fragrant, cool breeze served as harbinger of an early arrival of winter. The holy month of Zilhajj, brought in the spirit of festivity with the preparations for eid and also, lots of weddings taking place.

Saima Faisal and Rabia Rehman are not just, ordinary pretty faces of Multan. These young women, are extremely talented and blessed in many ways. Rabia is an entrepreneur and a designer par excellence. Runs her own boutique by her name 'R.R' (for Rabia Rehman). She is happily married to Mr. Rahman Naseem Sheikh, a well known personality, from a famous industrialist family. Rabia and Mr. Rehman, undoubtedly are the most good looking couple of the city of saints.

And Saima, was actually a doctor in making in UK, when her parents married her off to Mr. Faisal Sheikh, the young owner of Ramada hotel. Life here in Multan, all the family commitments did not allow her to continue her studies in medicine. However, she did manage to get a degree in Psychology. In the beginning of the year 2012, she was appointed as the 'career counsellor', of Beaconhouse School system,( A-levels branch), Multan. Where she was cherished as the most loved and admired staff member. But due to her duties as a mother of young kids, she preferred to leave that job.

It is often mentioned about Saima and Rabia, they are not just beautiful to behold but also possess, hearts of Gold. They are kind, sweet and sincere as well. Simply stupendous friends.

If they are so nice, they had to be the members of FMS committee, in any case. And as they are; this month, it was their turn to hold the party in this committee. And they gladly hosted one, on 18th October.

Venue, could not be some other place, than Ramada hotel, Multan. Because, Saima owns this hotel. There was a very special arrangement, with a lavish menu for hi-tea, in 'Whispers' cafe. The entire cafe was booked for the esteemed members of this committee. The turn over of the members was great. It proved to be a beautiful event and all the members had a lovely time. Thanks to Saima Faisal and Rabia Rehman.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
