Mahnaz Amir Sheikh Secretary ladies club, with the chief guest Dr. Qamar Khushi

The objective behind establishment of 'the ladies club', Multan, was to promote healthy, fun filled activities for the womenfolk of this city. More than fifty years down the road and this institute retains its identity for promoting superb services in this regard.

The month of October, brought one such event to life, in this prestigious club. A grand welcome party
in honour of, Dr. Qamar Khushi (Department of English, Bahauddin Zakariya university, Multan. She recently moved back from Fatima Jinnah University, Islamabad.) This smart and sophisticated woman has always remained, a heart throb of the social life of this city. And it was a matter of great pleasure for everybody to know, that she had been doubly blessed. She secured a P.H.D. After her two master degrees (or as we say, in simple language double M.A. First in English language and literature and second one in, TEFL) and her husband, also got promoted to the post of Brigadier in the army. The club administration welcomed Ms. Khushi with a large bouquet, lots of love and open arms.

As per tradition of the ladies club, to make this event even more useful and informative, a lecture about 'oral hygiene', was delivered by dental surgeon, Dr. Maryem Muneer Awan. Followed by a fun-filled competition of indoor games.
Mrs. Mahnaz Amir Sheikh, the secretary of the club was present at the occasion. Madam Shagufta Khaksar, the program secretary of the ladies club, performed the services of the compare. And invited Mrs. Tahira Najam (the literary secretary) for 'tilawat-e-Quran-e-pak' to begin with. These two ladies, along with Fariha Munir Shah (the joint secretary of this club, for the last 13 years) were also hosts of the evening. Mrs. Munaza Javed Iqbal was included among them.

Then, Dr. Maryem Muneer shared, very useful information about dental hygiene with slide demonstrations. Also announced, special discounts for the members of the ladies club.

Later, Mrs. Shagufta Khaksar conducted the indoor games. Many members participated and won prizes. Qamar was also invited to take part. She showed full sportsman spirit. The entire audience admired her elegance, her courtesy and humility, with she carried herself throughout the show. Many members reached out to her and loved the comfort, with which she interacted with them.

Finally, the prize distribution ceremony took place. The club administration invited Qamar to give away the prizes. And she was also requested to speak few words to address the audience. Being a lecturer and a professor, she gladly performed this task

At the end, everybody enjoyed hi-tea. Mrs. Tahira Najam, also had her wedding anniversary at the same day. But she had sacrificed her special day for the club. So, the members invited her to cut the cake. And the event beautifully ended in cheers and laughter.

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
