Hi-tea by Sobia Noor and Humera Wadood.

The hostesses, Sobia Noor and Humera Wadood.

So, the predictions of the dooms day by Mayans proved incorrect. We continue to live after 21st December 2012. As someone said, Mayans have committed, one of the world's greatest prank ever.

But this news, indeed created a lot of anxiety among masses. Many believed, the end of the world was actually approaching.

But women, here in Multan, were more concerned about arrival of December tests of their children. Planning winter vacations and what to wear during wedding season. So, due to all these committments, the socialites of the city of Saints, rolled their activities, to the middle of the month.

It was Sobia Noor and Humera Wadood's turn to host a party in FMS' committee. On Monday, 17th December, they arranged a hi-tea in Ramada (as per tradition of this committee). There was a separate sitting arrangement for the members in 'cafe' Whispers'. What surprised everybody was the fact, most of the members arrived in time. The extra sumptuous menu which Ramada, always offers for the hi-tea, was thoroughly enjoyed by everybody. And all the members looked great cuddled up in their winter clothing. It turned out to be a real refreshing evening.

And now, a little introduction about the hostesses of the evening:

If Sobia Noor's face appears familiar to you. It is not just that she keeps appearing on this blog, but also because she once appeared in a nation wide advertisement of Dalda banaspati, when her daughter won a contest in essay writing on, 'Mother's day'. Sobia's daughter named her mother as her ideal personality and pointed out, her extra ordinary characteristics, which determined, Sobia was the best candidate for, 'Dalda, mother of the year 2010'.

Humaira Wadood has done her masters in Science and remained a part of Beaconhouse for some time. But nowadays, she is enjoying her life as a housewife. Her daughter, Noor Wadood Rana's birthday, 'flower girl party', recently appeared at this blog.

So, these two brilliant, beautiful ladies, took out some time, out of their busy schedules and entertained their friends with a lovely evening.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. Maria BB's dholki at Tehmina Munir's

Glimpses of the resplendent event at Tehmina Munir's house. SOS children's village Multan is a little wonderland. Where children are raised with all the love in the world. No blood relatives are required for the purpose, as SOS villages have their own family system and nurture a congenial environment. A village consists of several houses. Each house is an abode to ten children. Looked after by a lady, appointed as 'mother'. She is responsible for taking care of the household chores and of the children like a mother. In short, it is made sure, they receive the affection of sisters, brothers and a mother. If there are siblings residing in the village, it is ensured, they are housed together. So, they are not deprived of their blood relations as well. For the rest, the generous and kind 'friends of SOS' are always there to extend their loving gestures. The monthly committee party system is adopted to keep them actively involved in the life at SOS village and en...
