SOS, Children's Village, Multan.

Inauguration ceremony of youth homes.

Mahnaz Fareed.

A loving home for abandoned or orphaned children. A belief that they also have a right to live within a family and must be nurtured, surrounded by love, care and security; even if they have been deprived by their own flesh and blood. This vision has helped, establish an excellent family based, child care system in form of  SOS children's villages.

To establish one such village in a city like Multan, was indeed a Herculean task. And as mentioned in several other posts on this blog, Mahnaz Fareed was destined to harbour this prestigious project. Starting from a simple house, to a complete village based on many homes. Then, Herman Gmeiner school, for children of SOS village, also serving the low income group families of the society. And now, youth homes for boys-who require to be raised separately from girls and other small children at the village.

SOS children's village, Multan, enjoys an excellent reputation in fair and transparent utilization of funds. So, there are always plenty of donors, ready to contribute for this cause.

Same, went for the construction of 'youth homes'. This assignment was sponsored by extremely distinguished philanthropists including, State Bank of Pakistan, Embassy of Netherlands and Monsanto pharmaceuticals. The remarkable building and well furnished interiors, speak volumes about the generosity of the contributors.

As a gesture of thanks and to honour the donors; on Monday, 10th of December a beautiful inauguration ceremony was arranged at the premises of SOS village, youth homes Multan.

An incredibly awe inspiring ambiance; welcomed the honourable guests, which included a big number of 'friends of SOS, Multan', who serve as a constant source of support for this cause. Along with many other civilians and dignitaries of the city.

Mahnaz Fareed addressed the audience and briefed about the details of the project. Then, she invited Mrs. Surraiya Waqar, (President, all Pakistan SOS children's villages) to speak. And she expressed, how proud she was of SOS village Multan and the champion of its cause Mahnaz. She announced, Mahnaz was taken among 'board of governors' and was being assigned ventures at the national level. This news filled the audience with enthusiasm, as it served as a matter of great pride for Multani-ites.

Saadia Yaqub the chairperson of 'friends of SOS', was handed over the charge to invite all the 'friends of SOS', who all together handed over, 'Shield of thanks' to Mrs. Surraiya Waqar, alongwith a cheque of One lac twenty thousand, as a donation for the electronics of the youth homes. Other august philanthropists were also presented the shields.

Later, the guests were entertained by performances of the inhabitants of the youth home. Followed by a live singing performance by a budding singer from Karachi, named Qaisar.

Finally, a scrumptious dinner was served. And the evening continued till late night.

We congratulate Mahnaz Fareed, Sadia Yaqub, Hania Shahid and Rameen Anis and all their helpers to arrange another fantastic evening, with charity and entertainment together. Hats off to you ladies.

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
