THE FASHION SHOW.

29th May 2013.

On the eve of Wednesday, 29th May, the natives of Multan witnessed an avant-garde of an event. A captivating fashion show, which served as harbinger of 4 days events, of exclusive mega-exhibition arranged by SPWCCI, in collaboration with TDAP.

The plan of this glamorous launch was kept a secret till last moment and most of the members were swept off by this delightful surprise. The venue, was Ramada hotel Multan. With an extremely competent team, with professional models and organizers, all hired from Lahore. Fabulous ramp, mind blowing music system, fantastic lighting, all put together to glorify and cherish, the work of the designers and artisans of the South Punjab.

The cherry on top of the cake was the presence of Mr. Saeed Tamimi the fashion consultant for TDAP, who was in Multan as a special envoy to assist and support the event. He was a great help and his ubiquity was keenly admired by the members of SPWCCI, throughout four days of events.

Six renowned designers of Multan, contributed for the fashion show.
Masooma Sibtain of 'Trends' and 'Zubia Zainab'. Ambreen Abbas Khan of 'Riwayat by Ambreen Khan'. Mrs. Naseem Raheem, Rehana Kousar, Quratulain Khurram and Khushi Naeem.

And the grand finale designer of the evening was Zahra Gardezi. Zahra Gardezi's mother, Mrs. Sajia Gardezi, the owner of the oldest and most famous parlor of Multan, 'COSMOS', sponsored the hair and make-up of the entire show. Spwcci Multan will remain thankful to her for her valuable contribution.

The chief guests of the show were Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar and Mrs. Marrium Gillani (wife of the DCO, Multan). The show was started by an address by the representative of TDAP
Alina Gilani.
Comparing was done by the favorite personality of all the Multani ladies, none other than Fariha Khan Pitafi.

And when the fashion show started, the entire audience was mesmerized by the bewitching beauty of the skillfully designed ensembles of their own, local designers. Many of them concluded, all this glitz and glamor, have made them realize that, the designers of South Punjab are not less than anybody but can be considered far better than many at the national level.

This fashion show, was though a joint venture. But it is an undeniable fact, Masooma was the motivating force behind all this. She not only set the sails for the event but took upon herself the arduous task of persuading all around her to go for it. A lot of admiration and salutes to the lady.

The fashion show was followed by an excellent dinner at the same hotel.

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
