Marwah Khan's Ameen.

Marwah Khan, reciting the holy Quran.

Muslims around the world are enjoying the blessings of Ramadan. The Islamic month, dedicated to fasting and praying. A month in which the holy Quran was alighted on the last prophet of Islam, Mohammed (peace be upon).

Quran is no ordinary book. It is complete code of life, set for human beings to follow.

Importance and significance of Quran in a Muslim's life can easily be understood in the words of
Yahya Adel Ibrahim;
The Quran is your life. Honour it, learn it, teach it, love it, read it and memorise as much as you can of it. It will protect you in life, at death, in the grave, On the day of Judgment, and will intercede to save you from Hell Fire and to elevate you in Jannah. The reward of the fluent is the peaks of Jannah amongst the noble scribes while those who persevere in learning it although it is foreign and difficult are given twice the reward!

So, it is the responsibility of every Muslim parent to teach Quran to their children. And make them recite it, from the very first word, till the end. And when the child completes this education, a special ceremony is organized to celebrate the achievement. In Pakistan, it is referred to, as Ameen.

Dr. Anwar Ahmed Khan and Mrs.
Fatima Anwar are Pakistani expatriates, from Multan, who live in United States. But they have complete faith in the religious values of Islam. And adhere to, all their responsibilities as Muslim parents. Dr. Anwar Khan, personally taught the recitation of holy Quran to his children. And on the completion, returned to Multan, to celebrate the occasion with extremely formal kind of 'Ameens'. Fatima belongs to Khwaja family, who are also well known for celebration of the religious functions with great fervor.
And this time, it was the turn of the youngest daughter, Marwah Khan. The month of Shabaan is also considered an extremely sacred month and blessed one to hold joyous occassions. The entire family was in Multan, so they decided to hold Marwah's 'ameen' in Shaaban, on Monday, 8th of July.

The venue was selected, keeping in mind the hot summers that Multan was experiencing during those days. 'Shahjahan wedding hall' was the only place which could accommodate, such a big family gathering, with proper air conditioning.

Adorned with voluptuous flower arrangements and tall candle stands, the place sparkled like a jewel. The stage was sheltered under flower arches, with classic, standing glass chandeliers and quilted backdrop.

Marwah was dressed up like a bride, with formal jewellery and lehnga, as used by traditional brides. And was made to sit on the stage with elderly ladies, as the tradition of the family.

The ceremony started with, recitation of Quran and then Naat khwani (poetry in grace of holy prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him). The renowned scholar, Mr. Hamid Saeed Kazmi, then delivered a lecture, emphasizing Islamic and Quranic education.

And the show, finally came to end, with the recitation of the holy Quran, by the little lady of the evening, Marwah Khan. Friends and relatives, congratulated her and showered their gifts on her.

The entire gathering was entertained with a royal feast, more like the traditional wedding style of Multani-ites.

We congratulate Marwah Khan and her parents for the accomplishment and also a lot of admiration for the way, they have kept themselves tied to their traditions, their culture, their religion and also strongly rooted in their native city, Multan. We are really proud of them all.

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...
