Masooma & Alina's party in FMS Committee.

The hostesses of the day, Masooma Sibtain & Alina Gillani.

December in Multan, is usually filled with rains. But not in 2013. It only rained once during the whole month and by chance, it was the day when Alina Gillani and Masooma Sibtain, held a party to host their turn in FMS' committees. 19th was the lucky date, when heavens poured mercy on the city of saints. The pleasure of a fantastic treat was doubled by the romance, brought in by floating clouds and soft drizzle which went on all day.

The members of FMS' committee, seem to be following their own set traditions again. Like the last time, Masooma and Alina organized their party at 'Shahjahan grill'. But this time, the menu was extra ordinary scrumptious. A whole hearted, pure, rich, desi cuisine, intead of Chinese (served during their last party). Barbecued chicken tikkas, seekh kebabs, chicken handi, Mutton saag, etc, etc. Mouth watering na? And shahi tukray as desert to complete this true, aristocratic menu.

To some of the members, the most amazing part was the appearance of Ramna Fayyaz. Who had been sending, the amount of her committee, every month. But due to her engagements as professor of English at Bahahudin Zakria University Multan, was incapable to attend any party. But finally, she managed to arrive at this party by Alina and Masooma. And many of the members met her for the very first time.

Now, a brief introduction of Masooma and Alina. Masooma is the creative force behind the oldest and most established boutique in Multan. The one, which started the trend of fashion in this city and is named so, 'Trends', of course. Today, Masooma runs various projects, 'Silkz', etc. But 'Zubia Zainab', remains her favorite, as it is named after her pretty daughter, who happens to be a designer in making at PIFD, Lahore.

Alina is a Gillani Syeda. Sweet and beautiful, this tall young girl, is a high ranking officer at TDAP. And supports many causes, related to female entrepreneurs.

At the end, we extend our heartiest thanks for arranging another lovely party. We wish to see more of such activities from you, in the future. Stay happy and blessed.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...

Celebration of Saraiki culture

Uzma Burana hosting her show Multan is one of the few places on earth, where Saraiki is regarded a native language.  As this city is considered a parallel civilization to Rome; Saraiki is often compared to French language in sweetness, softness and beauty. It has a strange poetic quality about it. This language is widely spoken in entire South of Punjab and at the bordering areas in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah. Richness of Saraiki heritage and culture can flabbergast those, who are unaware of it. Vibrance of colours, ethnic touch, elegance wrapped in austerity, these characteristics truly elevate Saraiki handicrafts from rest of the world. Here, everything can be hand embroidered. Apparel, shoes, beddings, wall hangings, table to foot mats. You name it and Saraiki people would present to you an article dripping with colour, shimmer and originality. Artefacts made of camel skin, mirror work, miniatures, paintings, mosaic. Truly hand made, from beginni...
