Hajra Shah receiving 1st prize from the chief judge Mrs. Riffat Mubarak. |
Ladies club Multan has a great tradition of arranging different kinds of competitions among its members. Such activities provide the members, a chance to display their talents and for others, an opportunity to learn from whatever they get to see.
On 10th of February, a dessert making competition was arranged by the group, headed by Mrs. Shagufta Khaksaar and Mrs. Sahibzada Farooq. Other members included Ismat Javed, Amara Qasim, Ayesha Awan, Mrs. Saleem Khakwani, Mrs. Mirza Ali Ahmad.
The event turned out to be a great success, as lots of members participated and provided a pretty sight by the layout and decorations, as well a treat of taste as well. Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar, lifetime president of the ladies club, was the chief guest at the occasion. Whereas, Mrs. Riffat Mubarak was the chief judge of the competition. Mrs. Shagufta Khaaksaar, the program secretary of the club, hosted the show.
But the most interesting part of the whole thing was, who came out as the winner of the first prize?
The astounding fact was that in a function full of civilized, well groomed, seasoned, ripe women, an eleven years old, Hajra Shah surprised everybody by her skills of presentation and refined taste.
Hajra Shah confidently, went on to explain the whole recipe of the dessert ''Cold Cake' that she had made. And when she was asked by the TV interviewer, how at this young age, she had learnt to cook and bake so perfectly? Her answer amused everybody. She said, she loves the food made by her mother, who is a very busy lady and does not have the time to cook and bake, although she is great at it. Nothing made by the cook or maid tastes as great as made by her mother. Hajra said, so she experiments and tries to develop the same taste in food, as made by her mother, sometimes.
Hajra also told everybody that her sister Zahra Shah, who is seven years her senior and is expert in baking, had also sent a dish in the contest, called ''Caramel pie'', but as she did not cut it properly for presentation and neither appeared on the scene to explain the recipe, so her dish could not win, though it was equally good as hers, if not better.
All the participants showed great sports spirit. All of them congratulated Hajra Shah and admired the little girl for her spirit, energy and honesty. And blessed her with prayers for a bright future.
Hajra Shah is a student of 6th class, at Beaconhouse Multan. There too, she participates in all the extra curricular activities and wins different competitions. She is the youngest daughter of a renowned social and political personality of Multan, Dr. Munir Hussain Shah. Her eldest sister Fatima Shah also set a record of winning a prize, alongwith completing a course of interior designing and decoration, when she was only 10 years old. Her interviews were widely published in newspapers, as ''the youngest certified interior designer of the world''.
Congratulations to this family for raising such talented, bright, beautiful girls. Congratulations to their parents for being blessed with such gems of children.
