For the natives of 'City of saints', the month of February brings in, the passion for colour Red. Whether they celebrate Valentine's day or not, people here love to wear Red. Special Red coloured clothes are made and accessories are bought during this time of year and women look forward to occasions to put these on.

Friends of SOS provided this opportunity to its members, to flaunt their fondness for this colour by making valentine's day, a theme for their February committee party. It turned out to be a double delight for foodies when they learnt, the event is taking place at newly opened branch of Subway in WAPDA town, Multan.

The hostesses were mainly from the family, which holds the ownership of the chain of Subway restaurants in this city. Beena Younas Khwaja, Saba Anees, Sadia, Ayesha and Ayesha, alongwith Khadija Iqbal. They were all very hospitable and personally attended each and every guest in a houseful gathering. The turn out was simply amazing.

Friends of SOS were requested to put on their Red attires and there was a special prize for the one, who complimented the theme, from head to toe. And that was not all, there was much more fun awaiting them.

For those who had reached the party considering it to be an informal affair, were surprised to see the Red carpet laid for them. Red fabricated arches, adorned with bouquets of flowers, welcomed them. Fresh Red flowers were pasted on walls and the halls were full of balloons. From front to the backside, Subway WAPDA town MLT was dressed like a bride.

The food was not all Subway, there was a bar filled with delicious home made treats for those who liked to have more variety, in addition to Subway sandwiches. Another table was laid for tasteful desserts. In short, there was nothing which lacked to make the guests feel, extremely special.

There were 3 prizes for the attendees. One, as mentioned earlier, complying perfectly with the theme, which was won by Zahra Bassat. Another one was for the first comer, Ittrat Gillani bagged that one. A surprise gift was for a lady, who was carrying red lipstick in her purse.

We congratulate the hostesses for holding such a brilliant event. Specially Beena Younas, who approached everybody from friends of SOS with so much of love and care. Our prayers that your Subway restaurant may boom so well that a branch of it be there in every street. Congratulations once again for opening of this new branch of Subaway WAPDA Town MLT. Best of luck.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
