The little cake company by Zahra Shah at Multan Food Fest 2017 #MFF2017

The little cake company by Zahra Shah, at Multan Food Fest.

Times have changed and the city of saints is changing fast as well. It is being transformed into a metropolitan city, with better opportunities, not only for women, but for families to work and to enjoy together. Multan Food Fest was another step towards that direction. It was first food fest, which ever took place in Multan and the little company by Zahra Shah is really proud to acknowledge being a part of it.

With the use of modern technology, it has become easier to bring thousands of people at one platform. Exactly that was done by one great young mind, Mr. Khawaja Muhammed Jawad (KMJ), who created a group page on Facebook, named 'Foodies of Multan', few years ago. To everybody's surprise, in no time, the number of its members rose to several thousands.

Being the owner of  several restaurants like 'Subway' and  'London courtyard' in Multan, this gentleman, KMJ had the knowledge and necessary background to carry out this Herculean task of arranging a food fest. Thoughtfully planned, it was done, keeping in view the best time of the year, December, of course and cherry on top were the dates, 30-31st Dec 2017 to 1st January 2018. Providing Multani-ites an open opportunity for new year celebrations with their families. KMJ productions, in collaboration with Roomi foods, went on to present, first of its kind entertainment in Multan.

The venue for the event was Buch villas; as new, as the idea of this festival. Interestingly, it became such a hit, that later, even coke-fest was organized at the same place. Three days of celebrations, with food and music, together. Dozens of stalls by different vendors, with famous singers and performers. Presence of a band like RDB added an international touch. Whereas, Quadrum, Falak Shabbir, Pappu Saaein and their likes, mixed up with visitors and vendors. Visited each and every stall and took pictures with them.

The Little cake company appeared truly unique among all the stalls, not only  because of its product but also for its elegant decorations. Creatively put together by the owner and baker Zahra Shah. The stall was adorned by pastel colored ballons and ribbons, which made a beautiful sight. It seemed to work well, on the target audience, the little children of course. Baloons attracted children, who loved sweet and colourful treats, created by Zahra Shah. It was such a delight looking at the smiles and happiness on the faces of the little buyers and we did try to capture the moment with camera. Do check the pictures (posted under) of the little cake company, little stars, they appear simply adorable.

All three days, this little lady, brought in freshly baked products. Cakes, tarts, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, French macroons. Every day offered a new set of items, freshly baked and decorated. The hygiene freak that Zahra is, she put in extra effort to get everything done, all by herself, without the help of servants or maids. The only person, she trusted other than herself was her sister Hajra Shah. These girls also managed to spend evenings at their stall to help their sales girl. Their parents also remained there with them to support them. Specially, their loving father, who is an extremely busy and committed doctor but he did take time out from his work and remained with them.

Dr. Munir Hussain Shah is the kind of father, who wants his daughters to be financially strong, independent, empowered women. This characteristic is truly praise worth and inspiring. As it is quite unusual, keeping in view the social and cultural bonds of this country and the city but he is among those breaking the stereotype. He deserves to be applauded and appreciated.

The security arrangements were a great feature of MFF2017.
Absolutely decent environment. Presence of female security members added relaxed atmosphere and increased comfort level for female vendors and visitors. Also, as only families were allowed to attend, there were no reports of eve-teasing or such disturbing activities. Girls and women remained free to enjoy themselves, without any fears, which was indeed hard to imagine before this, for such a crowded, public event.

Congratulations to all those who organizers and participants of this event. We wish to see this event become a regular feature every year. Entertainment starved, natives of Multan, do deserve such activities and also some opportunities of decent exposoure of genders. It is a great step in the right direction. Well-done. Lots of prayers and wishes for the future ventures.

The little cake company is grateful for this opportunity to participate in this event and truly thankful to all its regular clients and wonderful people, who stopped by their stall, to buy their products.
LCC is also thankful to Mr. Javed Iqbal of RJ birthday organizer, who did a fabulous job with the decorations at the stall at a very reasonable price.

As the little cake company loves its clients, with their permission, it made sure, some of its good clients must appear here in pictures, on FarihaMunirShahTimes. As, it is the most happening news source of events in Multan. You can be there too, next time you buy a product from the little cake company stall, tell them to take your picture and post on this blog.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
