Friends of SOS, flower party by Samreen Zeeshan and group

The hostesses, Samreen Zeeshan, Ammara Nazeer, Afsheen with Farah Khwaja and others

SOS village Multan is an exemplary institution. Which not only nurtures and educates children it is responsible for, but special efforts are made to settle and establish them in life. They are provided exposure to best of life, so that they are better motivated and set higher aims. This is not an ordinary charity, which takes care of them to finally land up in different houses as domestic help. SOS strives hard to pull them up to a better living. Their talents are explored and polished. So that, when they leave SOS, they are considered strong, respectable, financially independent citizens and are competent enough to reach the highest pedestals of society.

Mahnaz Fareed, the owner of all SOS projects in Multan and team of her dedicated friends like Rameen Anis, Hania Shahid, Ayesha Najeeb, Fariha, Rubina Arshad and Saira Nasir, remain determined to find best opportunities for them. Not less than what they wish for their own children. SOS girl, Bakhtawar is one great example of it. Her talent of singing was discovered at an early age. Thus, polished by practices and chances of performances at school and other places. The latest party given by friends of SOS Multan on January 26th was dedicated to her live performance and an amazing theme 'flower power'.

Samreen Zeeshan, Afsheen, Zahra, Hadia, Saba, Roman, Rukhshy, Ammara, Afshan and Ghazala were those munificent ladies, who exercised best of their skills of being extraordrinary hostesses. Awesome venue, Cafe saints' at the poolside of Ramada hotel Multan. A romantic flowery ambiance, replete with arrangements of Pink fresh roses,
efflorescence vines twisted around pillars and the mirrors. Fairy lights reflected in the crystal clear pool water. In short, the ambiance was magically romantic. The decorations were done by Ramada's own Zahra Khalid this time. All the hostesses matched the place in beauty.

Bakhtawar entertained the audience in her soulful, mesmerising voice. The audience chanted along. Some of the friends of SOS were invited to sing as well. Ayesha Najeeb surprised everyone by her talent and tender voice. Zahra Basset equally amazed everyone. Whereas, Shazia Arshad's Saraiki song, enthralled the venue and earned a lot of admiration. See, these little opportunities are the forte of friends of SOS. Bring out your best and show it to the world. Here, everybody gets a chance to shine. These friends are there to support you.

The hostesses were truly sweet and extended their hospitality to everyone. Ammara Nazir, made sure nobody misses the soup, served before the high tea. Chirpy and pretty Samreen Zeeshan made sure, everybody had pictures taken. She went on to distribute Pink rose garlands among all the guests. Pleasant weather, respledent atmosphere and lovely company made this event memorable. Yet, that was not enough. After a scrumptious, sumptuous service of hi-tea menu. Those who stayed, enjoyed more of music, alongwith more singing and some bhangra and rock and roll session. Great work girls! You did prove, you are superb hostesses. Hope to see, more of it.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...
