The hostesses of the party
Mariam, Hina, Filza, Tehmina, Mrs. Foazia Mughees, Rameen and Tasbiha

Every month, friends of SOS get together at their committee party to raise awareness and funds for SOS village, Multan. Each group of members tries its best to take the lead and give the best of theme, entertainment, alongwith chances for the children of SOS to participate. The pupose behind all this, is to keep this forum happening; provide reasonable exposure of the world to children of SOS and to  involve, engage more and more people in this noble cause. So far, all the friends of SOS have been amazing and their contributions are applauded at every event and every level by the head of all projects Mahnaz Fareed Sheikh, all her friends in the cause and her staff members.

The party for February 2019 was hosted by Mrs. Fozia Mughees Sheikh, Rameen Anees, Tehmina Munir, Tasbiha Sarfraz, Filza Akbar, Hina, Mariam, Asma, Dr. Munazza, Wajiha and Mariam Ahmed. An early welcome to spring was hosted on 12th February by this group, as a theme. Although, the venue was already the respledent Ramada, but the hostesses went on to add their personal touch. Specially Tasbiha Sarfraz and Tehmina added paper kites, cages, garland wrapped frames and other props to perfect the theme.

The hostesses tried their best to make it a fun-filled evening, with lots of games and prizes. Tehmina Munir, designed and orchestrated all that. Tasbiha Sarfraz reached out to every member, encouraged and made them participate in the games. Everybody was reminded of their school and college days, being part of these extra ordinary activities. Tambola was also arranged for all the members. Fariha Munir conducted that part and once again, had participants rolling on the floor laughing with her witty jokes. Shazia Arshad, Filza Akbar, Tasbiha Sarfraz won prizes in this game.

The best part of this event was, it was graced with presence of Mrs. Fozia Mughees, the patron-in-chief of SOS Multan. She was also among the hostesses and did extend her hospitality with a gracious smile and lots of love. Rameen Anees addressed the gathering and gave a presentation about the ongoing activities at SOS village. Mahnaz Fareed thanked all the contributors for their donations for the wedding of Nuzhat, SOS child, soon to be sent on her nupital journey. Hania Shahid, the co-ordinator of SOS committee could not join the party as she was out of city and her presence was thoroughly missed.

Once again, Ayesha Najeeb, the melody queen of Multan was caught for singing and she did deliver few euphonic songs. Shazia Arshad and SOS child Bakhtawar also added the magic of their mellifluous voices. It sure went on to become an extremely entertaining evening. At the end, a scrumptious, sumptuous hi-tea was served.  A great shoutout of admiration for all the hostesses.

Another big characteristic of the day, 12th February was that, it is birthday of Fariha Munir Shah. Which is always celebrated by her friends and all of them are in this committee. So, there could not be a better to day to get them all at one place. From the moment she stepped in the party, was welcomed with a choir of 'happy birthday' by all those present there. Yet, honoring the SOS spirit and the theme of the party, cake cutting ceremony was separately arranged on the poolside 'cafe saints'. Attended by Mahnaz Fareed, Saima Faisal, Rabia Rehman, Rameen Anis and Shazia Fareed. Thanks a lot dear friends, for all your love, gifts, wishes and prayers. Love you all.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
