Friends of SOS welcomed summer 2019

April, in the city of saints, is an unpredictive month. Bright sunshine one day, gets cloudy and rainy the other. Winter remains reluctant to leave and summer too eager to come. Seems like a skirmish of seasons. While spring flirts on with both, growing flowers, fresh sprouts. Adding colors to the land, brightening the scene, while summer knocks at the door.

Aisha Khakwani, Rabia Khakwani, Maham, Khadija Zubair, Naheed Zulfiqar, Bisma Salman, Farah Saqib, Sarwat Bano, Uzma Ali, Zainab Mahay, opened the door with great enthusiasm. It was their turn to throw party in 'friends of SOS committee' and they decided to go for this theme to 'welcome the summer', at Ramada hotel Multan, on 19th April 2019.

A respledent layout adorned 'mehfil hall'. Yellow Roses, on the tables, in form of bouquets, flower arrangements and garlands, accentuated the beauty of the theme. Thanks to Zahra Khalid, who was responsible for these decorations at Ramada, the place was complete with a photo booth.

Majority of friends of SOS fashionistas, turned up wearing 'yellow color', proving it to be the latest trend. Everything and everyone seemed perfect. Three of the hostesses, Farrah Saqib, Khadija and Musarrat were in great spirits and extended their hospitality to everyone. Their smiles and loving nature, won everybody's hearts.

Saima Faisal announced about the upcoming Ramzan drive and inquired, if any of the members would like to sponsor 'aftaaris and sehris' at SOS village. A great response awaited it and almost all the days were immediately booked by number of members.

Mahnaz Fareed thanked the audience, admired them for their contributions and acknowledged, the successful running of SOS village , school and all the projects under this umbrella were not possible, without their support. She said, SOS is their own place, they should visit and spend time with the children and give them moral support also.

Hania Shahid, announced that this committee round for the 2018-19, of friends of SOS is coming to an end. Parties for May and June will be organized together, because of arrival of Ramzan and the new committee will start in August, after the summer break.

A scrumptuous, sumptuous hit-tea was served. Then there were photo sessions. All dressed up beauties went on to utilize the photo booth. This event turned out to be as refreshing, as its theme was. Well done and congratulations to the hosts and organizers.

Now, as you must have learned, this committee is ending soon, if you want to become a member, contact any of the members and tell them to get you connected to Hania to make you a member.

Also folks, donate whatever you can, to SOS village during Ramzan. Cloths, clothes, wheat, meat, milk, contribution in kind will make a huge difference in the lives of children of SOS. SOS village looks forward to your help and support.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
