Jinn parri ka kissa, book launch by Aushaal

Department of English, Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan is a historical institution because of extremely learned and legendary teachers like Madam Dr. Mubina Talat. She is among those dedicated few, who took pains to learn first and then, to deliver Chaucer's poetry in exact same accent, as he himself must have, in archaic English. The knowledge she has imparted and example of excellence she has set for university professors in Pakistan is unparallel.

She has served as head of English department BZU for several years and retired sometime ago, but her passion for teaching and learning is not over. Many other institutes continue to benefit from this epitome of knowlege and have her on board as honrary visiting faculty for English literature and language.

Being a literary enthusiast, she could not opt for something other than books, when it came venturing into the world of business. 'AUSHAAL' publishing house Islamabad is her brainchild that she is nurturing with so much love. Recently, she was in the city of saints, for the launch of a book, 'jinn parri ka kissa', published by 'AUSHAAL'.

The event took place in a beautiful restaurant called 'X2' in Multan on 28th May and the real treat for those who attended it was, Madam Mubina herself was the master of the ceremony. Not only, she gave an introduction of the poet/writer but all the speakers, including, the most distinguished Mr. Asghar Nadeem Syed, who had travelled all the way from Lahore to cherish this literary work of his friend.

'Jinn parri ka kissa' is written by, a renowned personality of this land of Sufis, Syed Shahid Mubashir. Who is famous for experimenting every form of art, like music, singing, etc. This piece of writing is another of his explorations. An allegory in Urdu, which is called 'Masnavi' or 'Mathnavi'. Which
is believed to a spiritual text that teaches Sufis how to reach their goal of being truly in love with God.

Madam Mubina, described it as 'unique linguistic fusion' in which English is as heavily invested as are Saraiki and Punjabi and that it reveals, the transformative ability of Shahid Mubashir's poetic vision. She also pointed out to the reason of launh of this book in 'Multan, because, the influence of the land and culture of this area is evident in the writing. She also went on to suggest that, this Masnavi can be dramatized either for TV, stage or even YouTube.

The entire event was a treat for the literary minds and hearts. People were never tired of the stories,
Asghar Nadeem Syed, Riffat Abbas, Anwar Ahmed, Prof. Salahuddin Haider, had to tell. It involved, the history of the area, literary background and times spent with the writer. An extremely enriching experience.

Not just speeches were a part of this event, but there music and singing too, as we told you already that the writer is a singer as well.  The turnover at the event was amazing. So many literary souls of English and Urdu gathered together. It seemed a reunion of the best kind.

We congratulate Mr. Shahid Mubashir for his 'book launch' and wish him best of luck in the future. Our salutes to Madam Mubina for all her contributions and her undying love for 'English literature. We are sure, success of this piece of Urdu literature is going to take 'AUSHAAL' to the biggest possible heights in the world of publications and it will serve as a great platform to introduce many such talents infront of the world.

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
