Mahnaz Fareed hosts 1st SOS committee party 2019/20

Mahnaz Fareed, Kainaat and children of SOS village

Few years ago, looking at the social and philanthropic spirit of the natives of the city of saints, friends of SOS Multan started the idea of combining, charity and party together and 'friends of SOS committee' was born. Headed by Hania Shahid Khokar, it boasted of 80 members, which was the biggest number of members ever to be a part of any committee in this city. Year after year, the number went on increasing and today it includes more than 140 members. Who contribute a small amount of money, half of it is returned to them and half is donated to 'SOS village Multan'.
The latest circle of Friends of SOS committee started with a big bang in September 2019. According to the tradition, the event was hosted by the torch bearer of SOS in Multan, none other than the very talented Mahnaz Fareed, alongwith Mrs. Fozia Mughees Sheikh, Mahnaz Amir, Ayesha Najeeb, Goshi Faisal, Zeba Javaid and the extremely famous, mother-daughter fashion designer duo Masooma Sibtain and Zubia Zainab.

It turned out to be a colorful evening, full of fashion, style, beauty and everything nice. The venue was palatial house of Mahnaz Fareed and Mrs. Fozia Mughees Sheikh. A stunning place, which is itself a treat, full of huge paintings of renowned maestros from around the world, antique statues and artifacts, classic furniture and everything that speaks of the refined tastes of the residents.

Mahnaz Fareed played the role of perfect hostess. Extending her hospitality, from welcoming the guests to settling them down, she remained on her toes. It usually serves as a surprise to those, who meet her for the first time. The sweet and humble soul that she is, it is hard to believe that this dandy, elegant, delicate lady, not only heads, runs, but is responsible for bringing and building all the SOS projects in Multan. She has raised excellent teams, extra ordinary workers, produced a flawless system for the smooth and transparent functioning of everything that goes around associated with SOS Multan.

Ayesha Najeeb also actively participated as a charming hostess and kept the guests company. Intellectually rich, this learned lady remained a part of establishing and now volunteers her services for the functioning of 'Rosetta Stone lab' at SOS Herman Gmeiner school. Cheerful and congenial, she seemed as committed to the event as she remains at different projects of SOS.

Saadiya Yaqoob and Saima Faisal were responsible for the announcements. Mahnaz Fareed addressed the gathering and gave an introductory presentation about SOS village and all the projects associated with it. She went on to thank all everyone for being there to support the cause.

No party of 'friends of SOS committee ' is ever complete without the participation of Children of SOS. All this partying scene and socializing, actually take place for raising donations for them. So, their presence is a must. On this party too, they were there to say thanks to all the contributors and to welcome the new members, with a beautiful performance on a song about charity and compassion. At the end an excellent hi-tea was served.

Congratulations everyone for the re-start, reboot of this committee group. We missed it during vacations and wish you all the best for the future.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Floral fiesta by Mahwish Abdulhaq

Mahwish Abdulhaq with Hafsa Ali and Mahwish with her son Musa March is the month of flowers and fragrances, this was exactly what Mahwish Abdulhaq, (famous for her project Enlightened Multan) had in mind to celebrate her turn to throw a party in FMS committee party. She selected 'flowers fiesta' as theme for the event. When she floated the plan among other members, they pooled in their own ideas too. Floral clothes, hair styled with flowers, garlands.  Yet, what unfolded when they reached Mahwish's respledent house, surprised everyone. Nobody could have imagined the amount of the flowers which adorned the place. Vases and vases, full of flowers. Garlands for the guests, bouquets for the winners of different games planned by Mahwish and her children.  Mahwish's children, Hanifa, Musa and had planned a T20 for the guests. All of them were taken to the lawns, where wickets, bats and balls awaited them. Musa and his brother lead as captains and they picked their players fro
