Maria BB's dholki at Tehmina Munir's

Glimpses of the resplendent event at Tehmina Munir's house.

SOS children's village Multan is a little wonderland. Where children are raised with all the love in the world. No blood relatives are required for the purpose, as SOS villages have their own family system and nurture a congenial environment. A village consists of several houses. Each house is an abode to ten children. Looked after by a lady, appointed as 'mother'. She is responsible for taking care of the household chores and of the children like a mother. In short, it is made sure, they receive the affection of sisters, brothers and a mother. If there are siblings residing in the village, it is ensured, they are housed together. So, they are not deprived of their blood relations as well.
For the rest, the generous and kind 'friends of SOS' are always there to extend their loving gestures. The monthly committee party system is adopted to keep them actively involved in the life at SOS village and engaged with SOS children. The monthly parties, mostly revolve around celebrations of birthdays and achievements of these children. A resplendent party was arranged for the months of December and January was to bid farewell and wish luck to Maria BB, a child of SOS village, before her embarkment on the journey of marital life. Mrs. Tehmina Munir, one of the most stunning and happening ladies of Multan, a gentlewoman with a heart of Gold, magnanimously offered to hold a 'dholaki' event at her opulent residence. On 31st January 2024, when 'friends of SOS', arrived at Tehmina Munir's tastefully decorated house. They were amazed to see the flamboyant ornamentation of the place according to the event. The ostentatious display reflected as if it was a ceremony held in the honor of, one the affluent hostesses' own children and no doubt, this is exactly how they treated Maria BB. Dressed in bridal attire and make up, Maria BB looked glorious. So did her friend Riffat and other mates from the village. A 'dholli' and a team of dancers, were there to liven up the scene. Music and dancing, singing and clapping, just to create some unforgettable memories for the bride to be. Everyone present at the event was encouraged to participate. Everyone took a turn, regardless of age, size and status. There to rejoice the happiness of Maria BB. The lunch was sumptuous too, carefully cooked and catered by the professionals. Traditional desi cuisines, from gol gappay kebabs, karahi and jalebi and much much more. Not to forget jalebi and gulab jamun tantalized the taste buds of the attendees. With a professional photographer to capture all the moments and to develop them in memories. No stone was left unturned by the hostesses to make this event a huge success. Mahnaz Fareed Sheikh, the head of all SOS projects in Multan, appreciated all the hostesses and the guests for their time and energies dedicated to this event and SOS Multan in general. Hania Shahid thanked her fellow hostesses, specially Tehmina Munir, who offered her house for the event, also Farah Faisal for being there, all the way from Lahore. Rameen Anis and Beena Younis expressed their feelings for Maria BB and wished for a bountiful blessed future for her.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
