Dinner in honor of Italian ambassador by Mr. and Mrs. Ahsan Rasheed

The city of saints, is one of the oldest living civilizations in the world. Eversince, it has been declared a twin city of Rome, Italian government is supporting a lot of sustainable social, economic and environmental revitalization in Multan City. For the purpose, the Italian ambassador to Pakistan, his excellency Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo and his wife, madam Lidia, recently visited with a group of diplomats from Italian embassy.

Renowned industrialist, Mr. Ahsan Rasheed, who has been 'honorary consul for Italy', took this opportunity to invite them for a formal dinner, to meet the local business community, on Thursday 23rd January 2020, at Ramada hotel, Multan. The event was attended by an impressive number of major industrialists, business people, politicians and notable personalities.

Mr. and Mrs. Ahsan Rasheed arranged a beautiful gathering, where all those invited could access Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo and Lidia, inorder to meet and greet them.  With their humility, kindness and joyful communication, the couple won the hearts of natives of Multan. They mixed up sweetly among the locals and shared their views and opinions on different topics.

The event started with a formal introduction of the guest of honor, his excellency Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo and Madam Lidia. The host Mr. Ahsan Rasheed, thanked the ambassador and the lady and all diplomats of Italian embassy who accompanied them, for the visit. Also highlighted the valuable contributions made to the city by Italian government. He said, Multan can never thank them enough for a much needed facility like 'Italian burn center', which serves, not one city, but entire South Punjab region. Then he invited the ambassador to address the get together.

Already charmed by his amiable personality, the gathering welcomed the ambassador with a thunderous applause. Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo thanked the gathering for their love and also thanked the host for his kind hospitality. He threw some light on 'Italy for Multan' project. Specially designed for restoration and improvement of the historic features and sites of the city. With reference to 'Italian burn center' he said, he was glad to know, what a huge difference it created in the lives of people of the area.

After the speeches, a formal ceremony of presentation of souvenirs to the honorable guests took place. Mrs. Mala Ahsan and Madam Lidia were invited to join their spouses at the stage, where Mr. Ahsan Rasheed presented tokens to the gentlemen and Mala Ahsan to the lady, madam Lidia. The enthusiasm from both the sides, at this moment was heart warming.



Among the notables present at the event were Mr. and Mrs. Khalid Mahmood, Dr. and Mrs. Munir Hussain Shah, Mr. and Mrs. Tanveer Sheikh, Mr. Bakhtawar Sheikh and Mrs. Sidra Bakhtawar, former minister Mr. Jahanzeb Warran, Dr. Waseem and Mrs. Afshan Waseem, Mr. Khwaja Anees, Mr. Khwaja Omer and Mehriya Omer, Mr. Amir and Mrs. Nadia Amir , Mr. Kashif Sheikh and Mrs. Fadia Kashif, Miss Fatima Shah, Mr. Baqar Ahsan and Tahira Mustehsan Ahsan and many others.


At the end, a scrumptious dinner was served, which included both Italian and Pakistani cuisines. Although the evening ended but memories of this beautiful gathering and meeting with this amazing couple, Mr. and Mrs. Stefano Pontecorvo are going to last in the hearts and minds of the natives of Multan forever.
