Spring celebration and annual function at ladies club by Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar and group

Glimpses of the event

The legendary and historic, 'Pardah ladies club Multan' recently turned 60 years old. The celebration of an event so auspicious, was befittingly hosted by its honorable 'lifetime president', Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar, alongwith her group, which consists of her daughters, daughters in-law and other ladies of her family.

Senior member, Mrs. Nighat Naseem, former general secretary of this club, Mrs. Mahnaz Amir and Farah Faisal, Fatima Fazal, Rabia Rehman, Fadia Kashif, Ambreen Fawad were among the hostesses.

On 11th February, a magnificent function was arranged at ladie club Multan. The members of the club were requested to dress in the bright hues of Red, Yellow and Green. As it was themed, 'the colors of spring', something as bright and beautiful as all these hostesses themselves.

It was after a long time that these gorgeous ladies were finally able to take time out of their busy schedules commitments and managed to be there, as half of them have settled in Lahore on permanent basis.

An amazing
celebration it was. An extravagant show reminiscing about the glorious past of this club and munificence of the hostesses. They went miles ahead in organization, planning and holding this event, where others dread to take a step. They did not compromise on anything average. Decorations, entertainment, scrumptious menu, everything was at its best. For layout and decorations the president took the services of Sapphire events by Amna Khan.

Mahnaz Amir Sheikh, former general secretary of this club (for 17 years) and co-hostess of this event, did the compering. She invited members to start the program with recitation of Quran and naat khwani.

Then there was something extra ordinarily SPECIAL. All the hostesses gathered at the stage, with the president, Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar. Mahnaz Amir Sheikh announced there was a SURPRISE for a member and requested Fariha Munir Shah to approach the stage. Farah Faisal, also a hostess of the event and a dear friend escorted Fariha to the stage. Where a grand cake awaited them.

12th February was Fariha Munir's birthday and the hostesses expressed their love for her and honored her by combining their function with her birthday celebration. Fariha was overwhelmed and overjoyed and thanked them for this affectionate gesture.

It was followed by a superb singing performance by a very popular amateur singer of Multan, Ms. Najma Gillani. Then Mahnaz Amir invited Mrs. Fadia Kashif, the founder of 'Tarrey zameen par trust' which is also known as TZP.

Fadia is a member of the ladies club, also daughter of its president Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar and sister of Mahnaz Amir. Apart from it, seems, she has been specially picked by God as a messiah for women of the slum area and is blessed to be changing their lives for the better. Her contributions are endless. Yet, very humbly, she briefly introduced the audience about her organization and its works and invited them to be a part of it.

The pinnacle of the show was superb performance by a fabulous singer of Multan, Nadia Hashmi. She was specially called over from Lahore for the show. Her joyful and energetic singing left everybody in high spirits.

At the end there was a prize distribution for all the members of administration
by the very sweet and kind Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar, and special gifts for Fariha Munir, the birthday girl.

The turnover of the members at this event was amazing, almost hundred percent. A good number of guests were there too. Saima Faisal, Zahra Bassat, Shazia Fareed, Hafsah Sohail Wasti, Ambreen Abas Khan, Rubina Rauf, Farrah Farhan, Nosheen Qureshi and Gulnaz Nawab from Nawai waqt were among them. Whereas, wife of Commissioner Multan was the guest of honor for the evening.

It was indeed a memorable day for all the members of Pardah ladies. Kites, fairy lights, bright, cheerful ambiance. Everything was truly resplendent.  One of the most beautiful functions, ladies club has ever seen. Thanks a lot dear president, Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar for giving us beautiful memories to carry in our hearts and minds. God bless you even more.

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
