SOS carnival Febrary 2020

Birthday cakes, children of SOS and SOS carnival

''It is not our choice to be of help to humanity. It is Only Allah Almighty, who selects, few among His favorite people, grants them hearts so big and hands so generous.''

These were the words of the guest of honor, the renowned cricketer Mr. Inzam-ul-Haq while addressing a large gathering at SOS village Multan on occasion of Carnival and birthday celebration of SOS children, born in February. An event hosted by friends of SOS Multan, on 10th February 2020.

February hostesses, included the names of Farah Faisal, Rabia Rahman, Saima Faisal, Fatima Fazal, Dr. Zahida Sabih, Dr. Saleha Bokhari , Shazia Fareed and Zahra. Together, they left no stone unturned to make it as fabulous a carnival as possible.

Catering and decorations were done by Ramada. Saima Faisal personally looked after the arrangements and remained busy in organizing it, days prior to the event. Which seemed a true reflection of her British background.

Lofty lush lawns of SOS village were transformed into an English garden. Red and White checkered picnic blankets were laid on the floor with cushions and baskets full of snacks. Ludo, Chess, Monopoly and other games to play. Face painting was on, at one place, fresh cotton candy distributed at the other. Jumping castles, colorful balloon arches, brightened the scene. Gol gappay, dahi barhay on the stalls and so much more.

All of the entertainment was meant for children of SOS village, who were b
eautifully dressed. They appeared and felt like celebrities. As all the guests took turns to have pictures with them. There were many photo booths created for the purpose.

It was such a delight, looking at the happy faces of these children. Who could see, all this was done to make them happy, that the friends of SOS of the city of saints had gathered there for them only. One of the hostesses, Fatima Fazal who lives in Lahore, was specially there to be a part of the occasion.

The turn over was massive, as Friends of SOS also brought their children to meet and mingle with children at SOS village. There was a variety program lined up to entertain the gathering. Complete with tilawat, naat khwani to performances by SOS stars and a very special magic show. There was music, clown on the stilts, a lot of singing and a bonfire as well.

A special platform was raised with cakes for SOS children born in February. A proper cake cutting ceremony also took place and the children also received birthday gifts from the hostesses.
Mahnaz Fareed welcomed the guests with a speech and expressed her gratitude over their immense support. She had a lot of praise, particularly, hostesses of this event.

Rameen Anees and Hania Shahid remained busy attending the guests and showed them around, the houses for children at SOS village. Friends of SOS mingled with children at the village and their Facebook newsfeeds were filled with their pictures.

A sumptuous, scrumptious hi-tea was hosted for all in the evening. At sunset the bornfire was lit and friends of SOS were made to sit around it in two circles as two teams, for a singing competitions. Lead by two bright girls of SOS. Which lasted late in the evening, resulted in both teams scoring equal marks.

It was such a bright and heartwarming event. The generosity of hostesses towards the village and towards the guests, was evident in its perfection. Congratulations to all the wonderful people involved in organizing it. It is going to last, for a long long time, in the memories of the children of SOS and all those who attended it. May God bless you with more.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Maria BB's dholki at Tehmina Munir's

Glimpses of the resplendent event at Tehmina Munir's house. SOS children's village Multan is a little wonderland. Where children are raised with all the love in the world. No blood relatives are required for the purpose, as SOS villages have their own family system and nurture a congenial environment. A village consists of several houses. Each house is an abode to ten children. Looked after by a lady, appointed as 'mother'. She is responsible for taking care of the household chores and of the children like a mother. In short, it is made sure, they receive the affection of sisters, brothers and a mother. If there are siblings residing in the village, it is ensured, they are housed together. So, they are not deprived of their blood relations as well. For the rest, the generous and kind 'friends of SOS' are always there to extend their loving gestures. The monthly committee party system is adopted to keep them actively involved in the life at SOS village and en
