Enlightened Multan 1st open mic session

Glimpses of the event

Enlightened Multan, is growing through leaps and bounds. It is a community build to awaken the quest for knowledge. Bringing to the natives of city of saints, series of lectures, interactive sessions, to enable them to speak up about their issues regarding mental health, social problems and to encourage and promote healthy discussions. Thaddeus Golas said;

“Enlightenment is any experience of expanding our consciousness beyond its present limits. We could also say that perfect enlightenment is realizing that we have no limits at all, and that the entire universe is alive.”

Following this idea, the geniuses behind 'Enlightened Multan', Mr. Khawaja Abdul Haq and Mrs. Mahwish Abdul Haq, wisely decided to hold the next session of their community on 10th October, on 'world mental health day' and to honor it, they changed the usual pattern of their 'Tea and talk' program, from 'speakers only' to 'open mic' and open forum for all. So that everyody in the audience gets a chance to speak their heart out and suggest a topic, they believed, needed to be discussed. The results were surprisingly amazing.

Khawaja Abdul Haq, took up the role of master of the ceremony and played it truly well. Smartly dressed, beaming with confidence, this gentleman discussed variety of subjects, stirred ideas over various topics proposed by the audience. His knowledge and command over different issues, points of discussons, impressed everyone in the gathering and reflected his true genius, but he did not, by any means dictate his own ideas.

The audience were given pens and pieces of paper. They were requested to write down the topics they believed, needed to be addressed. Once the ideas were pooled in, with the help of Hanifa, Abdul Haq's daughter, draws were taken out by the members of team 'enlightened Multan', Fariha Munir, Novaira Fahad, Asifa Tareen and Dr. Munir Hussain Shah. They read out the topics, shared their own views about it and opened the discussion for the audience. Meanwhile, attendants reached out with the mics to each and everyone in the gathering.

The participants discussed variety of topics from issues regarding upbringing of their children to history and culture of their city, Multan. Fariha Munir tried to bring special attention towards the point. Despite being the oldest city, the city of saints is deprived of a museum. Truly unjust and cruel. The sad thing is, even the current government, which emphasizes on promotion of tourism, did not make any move in the direction.

Mrs. Shahida Bucha, Dr. Seerat Fatima, Ayesha Umer, Khawaja Usman, Khawaja Fahad and many others shared their views and opinions. Even the very young and bright daughter of the hosts, Hanifa Abdul Haq opined her views while discussion and assisted the show with her father brilliantly.

At the end, Khawaja Abdul Haq announced that there was an audio message for the occassion by his honorable teacher, madam Rubina Arshad, all the way from Dubai. Although she could not be there physically but in spirit, she was there to support her pupil. Her words of wisdom were aired for the audience and received a great applaud.

Truly great efforts were laid by
Mr. Khawaja Abdul Haq and Mrs. Mahwish Abdul Haq  for this event. Splendid lawn of their palatial house was the venue. Meticulous decorations were done by Bounty Bundles. Everything was par excellence. Another new addition this time and the main attraction for selfies and photography was the beautiful T&T lit sign as symbol for 'tea and talk' with Enlightened Multan. Yet, it was not tea only, but complete dinner served for the participants.

Congratulations
Mr. Khawaja Abdul Haq and Mrs. Mahwish Abdul Haq for the wonderful arrangements and series of these wonderful programs. Which are true reflection of, how honorable people honor others and how enlightened minds, enlighten others. God bless you all.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Maria BB's dholki at Tehmina Munir's

Glimpses of the resplendent event at Tehmina Munir's house. SOS children's village Multan is a little wonderland. Where children are raised with all the love in the world. No blood relatives are required for the purpose, as SOS villages have their own family system and nurture a congenial environment. A village consists of several houses. Each house is an abode to ten children. Looked after by a lady, appointed as 'mother'. She is responsible for taking care of the household chores and of the children like a mother. In short, it is made sure, they receive the affection of sisters, brothers and a mother. If there are siblings residing in the village, it is ensured, they are housed together. So, they are not deprived of their blood relations as well. For the rest, the generous and kind 'friends of SOS' are always there to extend their loving gestures. The monthly committee party system is adopted to keep them actively involved in the life at SOS village and en
