Mahnaz Amir Sheikh, a bright student of Psychology and English literature, fond of reading and writing. Who also served as Editor of the magazine of  F.G. degree college Multan. An achiever of the title, 'student of the year' at the same college. Grew up to become a towering personality, an entrepreneur, a furniture designer, an interior designer and decorator. She has an extremely successful furniture business by the name of 'Wood Carvers'. Another feather in her hat is that, for seventeen years, she remained the general secretary of the ladies club Multan and is now the first president of WCCIM with second year in office (2023 first, 2024 second). Very well deserved indeed, as Mahnaz has an amiable personality, multiple talents and resources to carry on this position with panache.

All those who are aware of the model of business chambers and functioning must be aware of the fact that, these are memberships based platforms. Which may boast of hierarchy or positions, but all the members work for it on volunteer basis. They pay their membership fees, annual dues and participation amounts for different events. This, payment system creates a democratic atmosphere and all the members, consider themselves to be of equal status , despite the size of their businesses or other internal or external factors. In return, chambers provide them opportunities to acquire trainings, improve their products, broaden their knowledge, chances to reach bigger markets and travel the world.

At this level, when someone heads this platform as president, it is very important to know, how to be humble and accommodating. As we know the general, common man's mentality of our country, even when a soldier gets a stick, starts beating people around to experiment with his powers. Whereas, Mahnaz Amir is an epitome of humility, honor and compassion. Which signifies that she hails from a distinguished family. Her late father, Mr. Mukhtar A, Sheikh was one of the biggest industrialists of our country and now her brothers are. Her mother, Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is the patron in chief of not only WCCIM, but APWA, ladies club Multan and many other women based platforms. Nonetheless, Mahnaz remains grounded, reachable and respectful to everyone around.

As, it is well known that BLUE FAIR is the major annual event by women's chamber Multan and Mahnaz Amir headed WCCIM in 2023. As president, she introduced many new ideas for this event, which included Faiz mela, a flowers exhibition, a qawali night with dinner and an extensive set up of more than one hundred stalls of women entrepreneurs from around the country. Women from Hunza to Karachi, brought their products and creations for selling. Where Mahnaz encouraged other buyers, she personally reached out and shopped from the stall holders. Which turned out to be great encouragement for them and definitely raised her status as a human being in their eyes.

Mahnaz Amir also elevated the image of BLUE FAIR by successfully inviting the first lady of Pakistan, Mrs, Samina Arif Alvi as the chief guest during all three days. Who had graced this event for the first time in 2022, when Mrs. Fatima Fazal was the president. Second time participation of such high profile personality/dignitary definitely hoisted the impression of WCCIM to new heights and enhanced grandeur of this exhibition.

Even being the head, she made sure that her teammates are awarded. Media committee and all its members, who served for the second year in office were appreciated for their efforts. The convener media committee Fariha Munir, former president WCCIM Seerat Fatima, former vice president Farah Farhan, Mrs. Tahira Najam, Nosheen Qureshi, Abida, Ammara Nazir and Tahira Qureshi, Mrs. Shahnaz Nasir, all them were invited on stage and awarded. People from the media were listed, invited and acknowledged for their contributions. Mr. Jahangir Tareen from APP, Ms. Shazia Naheed from Jang, Ms, Shaireen Rana from Baithak news, Mrs. Rizwana Tabassum from Radio Pakistan and many others were included.

Mahnaz Amir's commitment to this event was remarkable. She put so much of hard work that even her health deteriorated and at the end of BLUE FAIR, she was hospitalized. Yet, this did not prevent her from aiming for it the next year. Which is 2024.

This year, the BLUE FAIR is to commence on Sunday 11th February and is being arranged at Royal marquee at Railway club Multan. It is going to be a two days event, 11th and 12 th February. The focus is this year is on the sales of the participants. Lots of new ideas are being implemented. We wish Mahnaz Amir and BLUE FAIR organizers team, a wonderful and successful show. All the best!

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
