Another niche carved, by WOOD CARVERS

The wood carver, Mahnaz Amir Sheikh

Furniture designing is no longer a male domain. Here in Multan, women have taken over the charge.

Women, generally know more about furnishing and decorations. Because, they are usually responsible for performing these tasks, everywhere. Specially, those women, who are born with Golden spoons in their mouth. They tend to develop extra taste for finishing and designs. Such is the case with Mahnaz Amir Sheikh.

The lady is brave enough to venture into the world of this male dominated business world, almost a decade ago. And proved herself, a great competition for those, already raging in this field. She works under the label of  Wood Carvers. Her furniture, speaks of the class and taste of its creator. It has a very regal, aristocratic, royal look about it, just like the designer herself.

Over last decade, Mahnaz has successfully held exhibitions of her furniture all over Pakistan. She started from Multan, took her furniture to Lahore and Islamabad. Also, participated in many international fairs. Wherever she went, she came out with a sweeping victory.

Recently, 'wood carvers' arranged its fourth exhibition, solely meant for the natives of Multan. Which lasted three days (from 13th to 15th March), at ladies club Multan. The occasion turned out to be a massive success, like always. Mahnaz's work was eagerly bought and greatly admired.

We congratulate Mahnaz, for yet another successful venture and wish her all the best for the future.

MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
