Annas gets a super-hero's birthday party this year.

Annas' beautiful mom Mala, the birthday cake and the birthday boy.

Lights, colors, music, perfect blend for a perfect party. Specially, when the theme of the party is of super-heroes, from invitation cards to the party, the ideas get limitless. And who else can incorporate them all, other than the stunning Mala Ahsan (Shimaila Jabeen), who has already been crowned as undisputed queen of theme parties in Multan.

People have still not forgotten, Annas' last year 'pirates party'. You can go to the posts of year 2012 at this blog and click on the happenings in May. There you can see the details, how painstakingly, his mother had arranged everything. She is so good at it, that she has to challenge her own efforts every year, rather than competing with anybody else.

On 6th of May, the little super-hero Annas was flying in the air. As his 5th birthday was being celebrated at Multan Garrison Mess. The main hall was completely booked from 4 pm to 8 pm, only for his party. Magically lit, with lights of every kind. Disco lights flashing all around, laser lights dancing with the music, soft lights adding romance to the ambiance and flash lights constantly changed colors, painting the entire scene. Green at a time, Red the other, etc, etc.

A giant wooden dance floor was laid in the middle of the hall. Excellent music system, complete with the DJ. A professional for face painting and tattoos. Professional photographer. The atmosphere was dripping with artistic professionalism.

Pictures of Annas dressed as a superman, were laid all over in the hall, on standees, wall hangings and banners. There was a separate set of pictures, in a separate setting, reminder of Anas' previous birthday parties.

Aasiya, Aafreen and Azka, the sisters of the birthday boy were also, dressed as super girl, bat girl and cat woman. So were the majority of the kids who turned up at the party. It seemed as if a league of super heroes and heroines had landed in the hall.

And they had exciting games for their entertainment. Arms wrestling, really charmed the kids and the entire hall echoed with the names of their favorite participants, while the fight was on.

There were small carts/cars for the toddlers to keep rolling on, while others remained occupied in different games. One child was seen driving around in the same car, from beginning till the end.

And at the end, a dummy of  batman, which was noticed, hanging around in the hall. Taken by many as a part of the detailed decorations of the theme. Was brought forward and little superman, Mr. Anas was handed over a dagger to bring insides of the batman out. As, the little man struck hard, it was revealed, this savagery was nothing but a display to break the pinata. Children went frantic, as sweets and candies, spread all over the floor.

At last, a king size, double/triple decker, cake was brought out, which was an emblem of symbols of all the super heroes together. Again, the kids joined in the slaughter.

Finally, the food was served, the number of dishes, varied from continental to the desi to suit all the tastes. We congratulate Mala, for arranging, yet another fantastic party. Hats of to you girl!

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it.
