New members on board, SOS village and H.G. school

SOS children's village, Multan is not a solitary project. It is an enormous, multidimensional, iconic affair. Based on SOS village, SOS Herman Gmeiner school, SOS youth home. With SOS college lined up, as the next target.

The primary concern of this massive institute is to provide care to orphans and abandoned children.
But at the same time, efforts are made to enrich their lives, with strong moral, educational and social values. All this, along with physical and mental growth of the inmates of  SOS village, require ample amount of funding. Being a charitable organization, money is mainly generated from the community. To stimulate the purpose and for reasons like these, proper 'executive boards' are formed. People who are interested in the cause are invited to be a part of it. Representatives from different walks of life are taken on the board for a period of two years.
As, previous term came to an end, the boards are formed again. Some of the members were already there and some new people were also honored to join in.

The first meeting of the session of 2013-2014 took place on 27th April, at SOS village, Multan. From 5pm to 7pm. The program was started by the recitation of holy Quran, by one of the kids of the village.

The very capable, Mahnaz Fareed Sheikh, who is not just the 'general secretary', but the life and soul of the organization, presented the agenda of the meeting. Followed by;

*The report on sponsorship department

*Financial report.
*Annual fund raising report.
*Friends of SOS report.

*Career counseling report.


The group discussed that, SOS village Multan is quoted around the world, specially among, SOS villages, as an 'iconic' example of excellence. They have brought, so much to the the destitute children of the city of saints, in such a short time that they are believed to be 'living legends', now.
Saadia Yaqub, presented the report about friends of SOS. And admired the dedication by 'friends of SOS' to the cause. Specially, by the financial and moral support provided by the committee party.

Rameen Anis, Hania Shahid, Dr. Qamar Khushi, Sumaira Arshad, Rubina Arshad, Saira Nasir, Saadia Yaqoob, Ayesha Najeeb and Fariha Munir Shah were the female executive board members, who were present at the occassion. Whereas,  Mr. Khwaja Anees, Mr. Shahbaaz Chatta, Mr. Najeeb Ahmed and few others, were very kind among male members, who managed to take time out of their busy schedule to attend this meeting.

The next meeting of the board meeting is scheduled in September.

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it.
