Murtza's Filli cafe' & the little cake company at Coke fest & 7up fest.

The handsome young man,
Tennis champion, young entrepreneur and owner of Filli cafe Multan,
Murtza Khan Pitafi

Murtza Khan Pitafi is a handsome young man, only 17 years of age and a student of Punjab college, Multan. Where he is a champion of tennis and swimming. He is a regular golf player too and has acquired many a prizes in this game as well. He has inherited this passion for sports from his father, Qaisar Khan Pitafi, who has been a tennis champion all his life and a great golfer too.

Murtza Khan Pitafi is blessed with a great entrepreneurial spirit. He loves to read success stories of great businessmen and top international tycoons and wants to become like them. This is why, he decided to take an early start in life. Inspired by his cousin Zahra Shah, who has been running a successful baking business 'the little cake company by Zahra Shah' since she was 18 years old, Murtza selected food and hospitality as his field of interest. As he is really of fond of cooking and baking. His father had already purchased the rights to start Filli cafe'. So, he suggested him to start Filli cafe.

Before going for a full fledged restaurant, Murtza decided to experiment and learn by acquiring a stall at the Coke fest at Royal orchards, but as he had no previous experience, he invited his cousin sister Zahra Shad, who had been participating in Blue fair and different food fests for almost 6 years now. Who agreed to participate with him. Together, they acquired a stall on sharing basis. Where 'the little cake company' served its delicious sweet treats. Whereas, Murtza's Filli cafe, was to provide different varieties of teas, coffee and the savoury stuff. It turned out to be a winning combination and they did great business together.

For Murtza it was exciting to find out that all the celebrities participating in the show came to his stall for tea and snacks. Quadrum band members, JOSH singers, not only visited the stall, enjoyed the tea and snacks, but also sent people to get more stuff from this cafe, for backstage as well. Murtza and his Filli cafe staff did a fantastic job.

Whereas, every day Zahra Shah and her little cake company stayed for two hours only and left when their sweets were sold. Murtza selected to stay for all day, producing fresh items with his team members. When his friends, family, brother and sister were enjoying concerts and performances, he was on his stall, getting fresh tea and hotdogs ready for his clients. Such committment and dedication is indeed commendable.

Murtza enjoyed his experience with Coke fest so much that he immediately dived in, for another fest soon after. 7-up fest was next in line, but this time, the little cake company refused to participate, due to their own busy business routine. So, Filli cafe operated on its own. Murtza made his own sweets. His Arabic delight, baklawa, sold like hot cakes. People loved the combination of hot Zafrani chai, with crunchy and nutty baklawa, on a cold January eve. He even made cupcakes and few other varieties of desserts, which everybody loved. Once again he did a roaring business, all at his own this time, with few helpers with him. He sure made his mama proud, as we are sure, she must be boasting proudly, my son learned it from me. As we all know, great children are a proof, their mothers have raised them well.

After such an amazing response, his entrepreneurial spirit was eager to do more. With the encouragement of his parents and family, he has acquired a place for starting his Filli cafe at Shell pump, near northern bypass, main cross on Bosan road, which leads to Wapda town. He has the place decorated and already started his business, getting good revenues in return, but they are planning to have proper launching ceremony soon.

We congratulate Murtza Khan Pitafi for all the successes so far and wish him all the best for the future plans. Keep up the good work young man. We are all super proud of you. Ma Sha Allah.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
