SOS idol at Rameen's place

Few of the performers

SOS village Multan focuses on the complete personality development of children it houses. Where they are taught how to study and work hard, they are given equal opportunities for having fun. While they remain solemn in speeches, acquiring good grades at school, they are not deprived of fun filled activities. Trips, funfairs, musical evenings and much more activities are arranged to keep them engaged.

The most happening social and charitable platform of the city of saints, 'Friends of SOS Multan' also makes it a priority to keep them involved. One
such event was recently held at Rameen Anis' house. Although, FOS committees are usually held at fancy restaurants or Ramada Multan as Saima Faisal is trusted by all for perfect arrangements, but Rameen is quite popular at throwing resplendent parties. Her house and garden are as fancy as any place can be and also, well known for hosting most beautiful of events. People are usually looking for an opportunity to visit and experience her hospitality. On great public demand this party was arranged there, among beautiful flowers, fauna and tropical trees.

It was a singing competition, between the girls of SOS village and as they are not less than stars, this was called 'SOS idol'. There was stage, music system, even judges. Syeda Attia Shahreen Bkhari (popularly known as ASB), Filza Mumtaz and Syeda Zahra Bassat Bokari played those roles.

The performers were full of enthusiasm, dedicating their songs to Mahnaz Fareed , who is their baji, head and owner of all the projects of SOS in Multan. Their smiles, tears of joy, hugs and gestures were enough to prove, what a massive difference Mahnaz and SOS made for them. All the participants were confident and gave their best. Everyone deserved to win.

The gifts for them were arranged by a group member Shazia Fareed, being the tradition, she was honoured to give them away too. Being very kind and generous, she had prizes for all of the participants. Which sure made every girl feel like winner.

Before the start of the competition, friends of SOS were invited to perform as well. Two lion hearted women, Rabia Bosan and Syed
a Zahra Bassat Bokhari (displayed their talents and won hearts).

Mahnaz Fareed and Hania Shahid addressed the gathering and thanked for their presence and cooperation for the cause. Hania presented an update over the recent activities at SOS village and also thanked the hostesses for taking so much pain and making great efforts to make this event such a huge success. Which is definitely going to be among the best of memories for girls of SOS and all those who attended.

The hi tea menu was simply remarkable. First class catering by Ramada, full with a great variety of hot and cold drinks, savoury and sweet delights. Splendidly laid tables, made an amazing and mouth watering sight.

Congratulations to all group members for arranging such a wonderful party. We wish and pray that this platform of SOS village, all the activities related to it thrive even more and it remains at the lead of all social causes as it is already doing now. God bless you all.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...
