FMS' committee. April party by Marium Farrukh.

As we all know, the women of today, have their own way of socialising with friends. And one of the most popular ways, here in Multan, is to join some 'committee party' ; or as some would like to refer as 'kitty party'. Women, take time out of their busy schedules, to dress-up, look nice & party with other ladies. These committee parties are great social tools to bring women together. Strangers become acquaintances, acquaintances become friends & this is how friendships flourish, for many, in these modern times.

For the information of those, who don't know, what these parties actually are, here is a piece of information. Each committee contains specific numbers of members, who pool out some amount, of  decided money. One member is responsible for collecting the total amount & handing it over to others, every month. This member is always called 'the head' of the committee. Usually, the committee party is referred to, with the head's name.   The head, also decides, whose turn is it going to be the next time, which is usually decided by taking out the draws of the names of all the members.

There are many such parties running in this city. But few of these are popular among the younger lot & one such committee is by FMS. Many of the popular, pretty & happening young ladies are member of this committee.
This time, in April 2012, it was Marium Farrukh's turn to receive the committee sum. Marium invited all the members to a wonderful luncheon party at a very hip & happening, new restaurant 'MUX'. Here are few of the glimpses of that party.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
