SOS Herman Gmeiner school, third board meeting for the session of 2012 to 2014.

SOS Herman Gmeiner school is one of those unique projects, which are constantly watched over, looked after by a team of extremely vigilant board members.

Mahnaz Fareed Sheikh, who heads all the SOS village projects in Multan, is not the kind of person, who takes people on board just to please or honour them. She selects the most useful and efficient of people to accompany her in the cause that she has laid her entire life for. She makes sure, the members are productive as well. She has a way of making them work. Blessed with this humble, gentle, art of persuasion, she derives out the desired results from them.

Therefore, the board members of SOS HG school are mostly educationists or people who have some strong background in the field of education. Mahnaz keeps them committed to the cause by assigning them several tasks and meetings throughout the session during which, they are on board.

The third, board members meeting of SOS Herman Gmeiner school (for the session 2012 to 2014) was scheduled on Saturday, 17th May.

The agenda was to provide an update about the progress at the school and related projects. Including, an overview of the fabulous result of HG students. Also, the educational benefit of Rosetta Stone Lab, which is fully functional and working now. And finally the news that the entire SOS village and school, would no longer suffer the load shedding as the entire project is being put on solar energy system.

The board members, who attended the meeting were Rameen Anis, Saadia Yaqoob, Hania Shahid, Fariha Munir Shah, Saira Nasir, Rubina Arshad, Ayesha Najeeb.

The entire staff of the school was present at the occasion. The head coordinator, provided the details of all the ongoing projects. The advantage that the teachers and students are getting from Rosetta Stone language program. And the fact, only SOS Herman Gmeiner school is the only one, to boast this advance and extremely expensive facility for its students. Same applies for going solar.

Teachers were asked if they had any suggestions or problems related to the projects. But they all seemed content and proud of their efforts for such an efficient educational system.

At the end of the meeting Rubina Arshad, an honourable board member, who had her birthday on the same date, was presented a cake and was requested to cut it and share the joy of her birthday with other board members and the school staff.

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
