Friends of SOS at SOS village Multan

Glimpses from the event

The children at SOS village Multan are the happiest, when they have visitors. They are the most social, sociable, entertaining, hospitable kind of people you will ever come across.

You believe you are going there to give them your precious time or something else, but on returning, you realize that it is actually you, who has received a lot more. More love, more care, attention and the feeling that you have done it for a noble cause.

As, the Corona restrictions eased for a while and social gatherings were allowed, friends of SOS decided to arrange the monthly committee party at the SOS village Multan.

Hostesses for the month of February were, Dr. Zahida Sabih, Rabia Rehman, Farah Faisal, Shazia Fareed, Saadia Yaqub, Saleha Bokhari, Zehra Basit, Fatima Fazal.

Before the Corona times, Mahnaz Fareed, the head of all SOS village projects in Multan, had started birthday celebrations of the children of SOS in 'friends of SOS' monthly committee parties. The purpose was to make special days of these children truly special. Also to acquaint and introduce them to all the members, who contribute for them through these parties.

February was dedicated to an extremely capable debater, a very bright and well love student, Abdullah Khan and he celebrated his day with others who had their birthdays in the same month.

Birthday children were dressed in beautiful clothes. shinning like stars, faces full of smiles. There were games, there were cakes, there were birthday decorations, guests and all that, what is necessary for making a birthday extra special. A good number of friends of SOS managed to reach at the event, despite the concerns over Corona issues, but the SOPs were strictly followed.

The event was filled with joy and laughter. Rameen Anis and Rabia Rehman conducted the games. Saima Faisal and Saadia Yaqub announced the winners. The visiting friends of SOS were also given a tour of the houses at the village and they were thoroughly impressed by the fabulous living conditions.

Samreen Zeeshan said, she was surprised to see the amazingly beautiful building of SOS. She said, if she had not witnessed it personally, it was beyond her imagination that a charity based organization could have such remarkable living standards. Dr. Munazza Nasir , expressed her amazement, how these children were being brought up in a congenial, family based atmosphere.

Keep up the good work. We are all proud of associated with SOS village Multan and friends of SOS, do not forget, March 15th is a musical show in this amazingly beautiful open atmosphere, keeping up with Corona SOPs. Do not miss, see you there.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
