Mahwish and Khwaja Abul Haq's 'Multan enlightement day'

Glimpses of events

Mahwish Abdulhaq
and Khawaja Abdul Haq are among the rare prosperous people, who love to give back to the society. What distinguishes them from other philanthropists, is the idea of 'enlightenment'. Which could only be expected from this Harvard returned, well traveled, accomplished kind of man that Mr. Khawaja Abdul-Haq is, who happens to be the director of 'Mahmood group of industries' too. Luckily, he is supported by an equally capable and determined wife. Together, they decided to build a 'community' to educate people, through TED talk style talk shows, bringing forward, motivational speakers from different walks of life.
For the purpose, they build a strong team and selected prominent people, who are well known for their commitment and services in the relevant field. Mr. Fahad Khalid and Mrs.
Novaira Fahad
( president women's chamber of commerce Multan), Mr. Mutti-ullah and Mrs.
Asifa Tareen
, Fariha Munir Shah and Dr. Munir Shah (admins of famous FB group ' I ❤️ Multan '

FIRST ENLIGHTENMENT DAY:

The first event took place on 23rd February and was meant for ladies only. It turned out to be a huge hit. The speaker was Dr. Fariha Naz from Lahore. Not only, she enlightened the crowd about the psychological problems, but encouraged them to talk about it too and admired them for tackling difficulties in their lives, it proved to be an educating experience itself and definitely got this young psychologist a great fanfare.
The event was elegantly decorated. Exquisitely filled with flower arrangements, fancy layout and beautiful lighting. Accompanied by perfectly catered scrumptious, sumptuous dinner, in the serene lawn of newly constructed palatial house of Mahwish and Abdul-Haq. Hanifa, their daughter mastered the ceremony. Whereas, their sons Muhammad Yahya and Muhammad Musa carried the translation of recitation of Quran done by Shameen Khan. The second day, Almeen Khan hosted the event, whereas the rest of this little team handled the same assignments. Fariha Munir Shah delivered the welcome not and introduction of the speaker. Novaira Fahad wrapped the show with a note of thanks.
SECOND ENLIGHTENMENT DAY:
The second event, was organized at Station library, Multan and was open to all, for ladies and gentlemen, but admission was through registration only. The number of attendees was kept restricted to 100 only, in view of Corona SOPs. More people showed up. Yet no rules were broken. As it was the very first event, the registration was kept free, but in the future, they plan to keep a minimum fees of 500 rupees, to make sure that people commit to be there.
Khawaja Abdul-Haq delivered the welcome note and thanked the audience for the support. Dr. Munir Shah, shared his views about 'Multan enlightenment day' and formally introduced the speakers in his speech. There were two speakers on the second day, Dr. Fariha Naz and Mr. Talha Shorwala, an accomplished young actor, movie maker and motivational speaker. Both were highly interactive and encouraged people to participate and question. It seemed, the session would go on forever, but someone had to stop. Mr. Fahad Khalid performed this task and delivered the 'thank you note' at the end and the guests were entertained with a hi-tea. Some of the most active and responsive participants were also awarded tokens. Everything proceeded splendidly. Well done Mahwish and Abdul-Haq for taking this initiative. It is definitely what the city of saints needed for a change. A dose of enlightenment. And now we must tell, this amazing couple wishes to continue these activities by the name of 'Enlightened Multan'. Their next session is with Dr. Mahmood Shah, about addiction, on 13th March 2021. M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th

Maria BB's dholki at Tehmina Munir's

Glimpses of the resplendent event at Tehmina Munir's house. SOS children's village Multan is a little wonderland. Where children are raised with all the love in the world. No blood relatives are required for the purpose, as SOS villages have their own family system and nurture a congenial environment. A village consists of several houses. Each house is an abode to ten children. Looked after by a lady, appointed as 'mother'. She is responsible for taking care of the household chores and of the children like a mother. In short, it is made sure, they receive the affection of sisters, brothers and a mother. If there are siblings residing in the village, it is ensured, they are housed together. So, they are not deprived of their blood relations as well. For the rest, the generous and kind 'friends of SOS' are always there to extend their loving gestures. The monthly committee party system is adopted to keep them actively involved in the life at SOS village and en
